You are sure the shim was installed? If so then it sounds like a possible hydraulic issue. Have you upgraded to the newer hydraulic parts from GM? Let me know and I will be happy to assist you further.

The disk might have alot of high spot's.If it goes into first and reverse without grinding it is ok to drive. The peddle will come up a bit. We've never had a 3+ engage that low though.

I just got mine installed and it does engage a little lower than the stocker. I had it done by a good reputable shop though and I trust their work. I guess we will see what the future holds for it.

Well I just swapped to the 2002+ Hydraulics. Does that make it release lower or something? I really done think you have an issue as long as it shifts correctly and doesnt bind anywhere.

From what I gather here... '97-'01 slave and master cylinders were weak (which is why my pedal stays on the foor at the track I assume). So just go to GM and get any sc and mc from a 2002+ and you will be set. Thats what I did!

Thats probably all of your problem right there. Anytime you have a hydraulic leak you wont build pressure and you introduce air into the system and then nothing will work right! Get it fixed asap.

The black rubber dome looking thing on the lid is what I am assuming your talking about...Yes keep it on and go by the indicated full mark which is about half of the resivor.

Ive had nothing but great luck with Spec. Probably because its always installed correctly and I didnt really lead foot the gas till after 500 miles of city/highway driving. Im currently on 260 miles on this Spec 3+ and just barely laid into it a little tonight and it was great.

Its all about a good install, torqued bolts, clean parts, and proper break in.
