I'm counting on going with the twin iron disk setup in the near future. My spec 5 has been completely flawless so far. My question is do these $2K assemblies come with a flywheel? If not, how much extra? Adam

Does the bellhousing have to come off to install this clutch?

Yes, the kits do come with a flywheel.

As for the bell-housing questions I honestly haven't tried to install a Super-Twin this way. I am pretty confidant that you will need to pull the housing though.

Removing the clutch without the bellhousing was one of my questions too. It looks like you *might* be able to do it if you want to, but lining it all up may be a pain and you would probably have to take it out sideways, not just straight in and out. I figure the pressure plate is ~13" OD (should have measured it), so if someone wants to measure the bell opening, you can decide from there.

So far, I have no complaints- it certainly grabs and I am well upwards of 700 crank torque (hopefully more than that at the wheels also- find out today ).

Approximately how many 6500 rpm launches could we reasonably expect this clutch to survive in an 11-second NA f-body? Which friction material would be best for this application?

Jeremy,

Thank Matt for me will ya. I had been running a Stg.4 disc with a centerforce pp. After the weights on the pp let go he talked me into a 4+ kit from you and I am very impressed. Maybe a little harsh for engagement on the street so far, but I can live with it cause it is unbelievable for launching!! Hope to make it out to the track soon to run some good 60' times. Thanks again!

Gary, there is honestly no way for Slowhawk, or anyone else for that matter, to provide an estimate on the number of clutch drops a clutch can take. There are lots of factors involved that are not realy quantifiable variables.

Bruce, I am glad that you are pleased with the performance of the 4+. It really is a fantastic kit. Let us know if you need anything else. Thanks!!!

Thanks for the reply. I didn’t really expect anyone to guarantee 100 launches but I am beginning to understand why so many drag racers give up and switch to automatic transmissions. There are virtually indestructible autos for any power level. You really need to be a die-hard dumbass to pay more than $1k for a clutch when you are not able to have any confidence it will survive a season in a pathetic twelve-second car. Because I love my T56 I will probably make the same stupid mistake again but damn – it is really frustrating.

Gary, I hear you and am the same way. I'm addicted to my M6. The cost of these LS1 clutches is killer and they can be frustrating bitches. They're really utterly pointless, worse for the track, and ultimately more expensive it seems to me, but I can't stand just even thr thought of putting it in drive or not being able to downshift or kick it into neutral.

Oh well. The chicks dig 'em.

I was wondering whether you can slip anything other than organic disc (Stage1)? Because start in dragracing in M6 is all about slipping clutch, I wonder whether you can do this with for example Stage2 or Stage3?

Also, why do you have to change flywheel everytime you change the clutch?

We are at about 60 launches with 800rwhp and slipping the clutch alittle on launch for 1.5 60's. Still holding fine.

Slowhawk, this is encouraging. I would very much appreciate also knowing your usual engine speed at launch. Thanks, Gary
