SPEC Twin Disk Clutch Assembly
SPEC now has a Twin Disk clutch available for the LSx engines -
LS1/2/6/7
SPEC Clutches and Flywheels introduces the Super Twin for street and track use in cars with extreme horsepower and torque.
Until now, there has been a drivability, maintenance and longevity trade-off with clutches built to handle 700-1500 ft lbs tq. The revolutionary new SPEC Super Twin has set a new standard offering near-stock drivability, tremendous life expectancy, a no shimming/setup bolt-in installation and maintenance free operation.
With all billet construction, these units are smooth and quiet. The super twin is constructed with aircraft grade aluminum and high carbon billet steel milled to an industry leading .001 inch for perfect balance and actuation.
Friction is provided by dampened, full-faced carbon graphite discs. Organic or full metallic options are available.
Torque capacities upwards of 1500 can be realized depending on disc options. Flywheel and track-spec hardware are included in each kit.

Hey guys, this unit and the installation procedure associated with it should be in an up comming issue of Vette Magazine. We have tested this assembly in a number of vehicles and have had great feed back thus far. Everyone is amazed with the smoothness of engagement, pedal feel, and performance. We don't normally release info on RI but I will see what I can dig up. The weight of this unit is less than the stock clutch and flywheel but it is heavier than a standard single disc and aluminum wheel. Everyone thus far has been very happy with the rev characteristics of the unit. Remember, the cover used in the Super-Twin is Billet Aluminum which saves weight.
As a side note we offer units that provide a lower moment of inertia in both 7.25" and 8.5" assemblies (but these are much better suited to road-race applications). Our decision to use a 10.5" set-up with the Super-Twin was made in relation to the need for a clutch that proivdes great drivability and performance in both street, drag, and track applications. I hope this info helps. I will post more specifcs on RI as soon as I can. Thanks,

This is the very reason that we offer so many options (7 single disc and 4 Super-Twin). It allows us to provide a clutch kit for every possible power level and pocket-book. Think of it as a positive thing...we do!

What a ridiculous comment to make. The reason they offer so many different options is to line the pockets of the executives. Might as well be a Forbes rated company. Basically there are times that i miss my 95 Cobra, a clutch good for 6-700 horse cost 350-400 bucks. Find that for less than 900 bucks, whats the difference besides fitment for the application, i dont see it.

Yet another informative post from Whiplash (lol); I am just kidding of course and I assume that you will take this in good humor. I find your response interesting. It seems that in your mind we are damned if we do and damned if we don't. The actual reason for our numerous stages is to offer options for everyone. It does make good business sense though; I'll agree with that.
Believe it or not SPEC is comprised of a group of enthusiasts that love cars and racing just as much as you do. And, as such, saying that a Mustang and a Camaro clutch are the same is like saying that the cars they fit are the same too...an insult that has started innumerable arguments since the 60's.
Think what you will, but realize that having options is what makes the world so interesting. If options are too overwhelming then I advise you to stay far away from the nearest 31 Flavors/Baskin Robins'. Let me know if you have any further questions...

Kind of like the $1K+ needed to own a set of headers back in 99-2002. Spec's not alone though. Look at ARP head studs that cost 90 for most applications, and 200 for lsx cars. Damn that corvette tax!

I dont remember posting any questions only comments. And if you must know my vehicle has SPEC inside. So regardless of the Corvette tax, i have paid, my clutch is blue. I was not regarding SPEC as the only culprit, its all products for these cars just as JBM said.

Hey Whip, no worries man, I was really just joking with you. It never ceases to amaze me how many folks think of us as the Juggernaut of Clutches. I was simply providing a little insight to those who have never seen our operation. I will admit that your post seemed less than positive, even when reading it again just now.
