T56's are junk, please help.................
I am currently running around without 3rd gear, and it is realy getting on my nerves. I still race; and sometimes I can powershift and force it into 3rd, but that is becoming more and more of a rarity. I think it is about time to tear it down.
Can someone give me some info on the T56's, possibly some pointers on the intenrals if they have any. I have the D&D transmission's rebuild manual, and I am thinking of attempting to rebuild it myself.
Also does anybody have any links or prices on the steel upgraded internals for the T56's? Like possibly the steel shift forks, brass synchros, or any other upgrades, such as the viper T56 parts.
make sure the clutch is working right. A lot of times it doesnt release fully and drags, wearing out the synchros.

I agree, the reason you keep killing the tranny is because your clutch isn't working right.I have over 60 passes this year with mine.no problems.
other places are FLP, SMC performance but you have to CALL both of them.
How do you like the 220 cam? Does it make good torque from idle and up?
Im thinking about going with a custom single pattern comp cam xer grind with 220 duration and 581 lift and 113 degree centerline and about 3 degrees of advance ground in. Hoping it works good with stock 3.42 gears and still make good power up top.

My 02 went in at 3000 miles for a completely new 3rd gear, shift forks, synchros ect. It is starting to get shitty again. There are many other 02's that have experienced the same probelems.
its pathetic

Sorry but it is not just my shifting style. I have had a mustang and two camaros, and know how to power shift. This is not an uncommon thing in the 01'and 02's. Mine first went out at 700 miles under normal break in, then again at 1500, they replaced the trani at my demand, and that one has gone out 5 times now( it was removed from a car on the showroom that was similarly packaged. I am thinking it has to do with the quality of the trani products produced by tremec.

I'm sorry man. I was doing some reading the other day on annother site and it looks like after the Borg/Tremac merger they changed the design after '00 (Tremac SUCKS ***). Looks like I was running my mouth about something I did not know about. I have a '99 and it seems like this thing will take all you want to give it. Sounds like the Tremac influence has made the T-56 about like the old mustang T-5. I have read about a bunch of T-56 problems in the '03 cobra as well .
This is a probelem with 02 model year cars only. Coincidence? NO. Something happened in the manufacturing of these T-56's. There was a post about the shaft allignment of the gears (in the housing) being off due to a machining f*ck up where the holes (for the shaft) were drilled slightly off.
Personally I think tremec got cheap and passed bad parts through their manufacturing system. It is physically harder to put the car into 3rd. Just yesterday mine got stuck in 4th, the motherf*cker would NOT come out, i had to pry it out with both hands. WTF is that?!
But dealers are MORONS so instead of giving probelem cars new transmissions they continue to rebuild them using new parts, when the parts will just get f*cked up again because the casing of the trans may be the probelem.
