Default T-56: what years to stay away from? know problems?

I'm researching T-56s. I don't know a whole lot about them, but I can repair just about anything. What years are the ones to stay away from, or that had known issues.
What parts go out first, and what are the "it's a good idea to replace" since it's out parts. Dose anyone a have a rebuild thread with pics?
This is going behind a 1/2 truck with a mild cammed 6.0, with 3.73 or 4.10s. Daily driver, road trip queen, will hardly see the track if ever, but I do want to be able to play with it, or be able to do 3K dumps.
I currently have a 4L60e with the TransGo HD2 kit, and all the toys, with the stock stall.
Any help would be great.

If you have one out of car, just rebuild it before putting it in the truck.
All the weak points can be addressed.
A steel 3/4 fork you can opt to put billet slider keys in & broze shift fork pads.
You can also get it mikronite coated gears.
I'd suggest talking to T-56 rebuilds/six speeds inc;

Lots of options, my suggestion would to be do it up right the first time.

Talk to T56 Rebuilds, they will get you squared away. You could juts buy an already stout built tranny from them and save yourself the work or you can order s good rebuild kit from them and do it yourself.

As for years of the T56, any 98 and up is the newest one from Tremec, the older ones in the LT1 cars were from Borg-Warner.

Avoid the 3.36 and 2.97 LGR sets( early LT1 F-car) as they have a lower torque capacity ratings. All F-car units should be upgraded with a new iron 3/4 fork.

Aren't the tranny's from the LT1's a T-56 tho? If the LT1's are Borg-Warner I'm gonna have to kick my uncle's *** for putting in that tranny on my 99 SS!! I remember busting a big hold in my tranny about 1.5 years ago because of a rock on the freeway...anyway I took it to my uncle's shop in Sacramento. My tranny started acting funny about 2-3 weeks ago. Everytime I leave from a stop it'll make kinda like a ginding noise when the clutch cathes. It would also do it in reverse. I had my uncle test drive it last week and he said something about Borge-Warner...If I find out he got a tranny from a LT1 and put it in my LS1 I'm gonna be pissed!

it isnt unusual to have a borgwarner in a 99 car... Like anything else... they put whatever stock they have in before they switched to the new manufacturers product (which happened to be Tremec when they started making the t56 in mexico for cheap).

My 6 speed in my 2000 was replaced before I bought it. It only had 17,500 miles on it. About a year ago it was popping out of 3rd and didn't want to go into first at ALL.

No idea on s/n or whatever... T56 Rebuilds solved my problem.

Did you buy a rebuild kit from them? Or they just told you what the problem was?

Borg Warner/ Tremecs are the same to my knowledge (Ive rebuilt both types). I wouldn't worry about it.
