Cant decide drill mod or not?
Cant decide drill mod or not? I cant decide if I should do the drill mod or not. Has anyone had problems after they did the drill mod? Is there any reason I should'nt?
Mainly I just want to hear if anyone thinks it can cause the slave to fail early or anything like that. The car shifts pretty decent how it is but if it helps and is pretty risk free as long as I get all the metal flakes out ill do it.

Then install docs and its under transmission.
the drill mod is used to remove the restriction in the hydraulic line coming from the master to slave cylinder in order to help with fast shifting.

Yeh I never shift too hard just fast but I try not to force anything. Which is why if I could get things a little smoother it could help for a little faster shifting. I am currently pretty happy with my shifter tho but not sayin it cant be better.

There's absolutely no down side to the drill mod. Imagine an hourglass. You have the bottleneck in the middle that the sand must slowly channel through. With the restriction, there is this "bottleneck" that the fluid has to travel through so to speak. It keeps the fluid from traveling through the line as fast as it should to and from the master and slave, hindering clean, sure, disengagement, and engagement, of the clutch.
Absolutly do it. Coincidentally I just did the drill mod on my car today, and its 100% quicker shifting. I used to have slow 1-2 shifts, but now its great, and its a free mod, so why not?
The only way it could damage anything is if you dont flush the line well emough to get rid of the drill shavings. Be sure that you flush it well, because the little metal particles can hurt seals

I replaced the slave when I did mine as well. If you're doing it by yourself, an easy way to flush the metal shavings is to snap the quick-disconnect into an old removed slave and pour fluid into the bleeder of the slave and tilt. The fluid will dribble out of the drilled side along with any shavings.

To get the trash out of the line after you drill out the restriction, blow compressed air through it. That will do way more than letting fluid flow through it.
