Exclamation T56 rebuilders in here please, aligning shift rails!

Okay I am at the point where the main case is ready to go back on and I dont know how in the hell to align the the 5/6 and reverse rail and levers. Please let me know how you aligned your 5/6/reverse shiftrail!

Here are a few pics but I dont know what position is right. It seems though if I dont tuck the brown levers behind the black shift links (3rd pic), the main cover does not mate up to the front cover.

Both openings on the 5th/6th/reverse shift rail must be positioned on the interlock ( like the two 3/4 and 1/2 fork links are). Perhaps the reason the case is difficult to locate is because you still have the back up lamp swiths installed and it is interfereing with the rail on assembly of the case...remove it . Hope that helps. You can download a PDF of the repair manual you know.

Thanks for the help, I have a manual but I dont think it explained this.

So when you are putting that alignment screw in on the left side of the case, is it protruding into that vertical slot on the 5/6th shift rail lever?

Thats exactly where it goes. The factory manual suggests lifting up and wiggling on the 5/6 rail to get the case to sit down fully. When looking down through the back of the main case, I wiggled the lowest portion of the 5/6 fork assy I could grab to get the case to slide on. Messing with the reverse end of the fork caused problems.
