Default Richmond 5-speed in 3rd gen. ?????

I have a Richmond 5-speed and I want to build a 3rd gen Firebird. I also have an engine that makes an honest 550 hp, so I don't figure the T-5 in this 'Bird will work out very well. My engine and trans is in my 69 Elcamino now, but they are coming out. I know most guys are using either a T-5 or a T56, have any of you known of a Richmond swap? I figure on using the hyd. clutch set-up and my blow-proof has a bracket on it already for a slave cyl. My primary concern is tunnel mods and the shifter location. Any info would be a great help to me.

Thanks, Randy

Default

Long Shifters makes a shifter for that application: HN-1002. Expensive but Long makes the best shifter for the Richmond transmissions (uses heim joints, etc).

Mecham third generation f-bodies were available with the Doug Nash 4+1 (predecessor to the Richmond). My Doug Nash 4+1 swap page may help you since my conversion is based on third generation f-body parts.
