Short throw shifter
whats the best and/ or shortest one? pro 5.0 , ws6store, ? and im takin it that the stock **** one my WS6 (not Hurst one) will fit?
I just dont generally understand them i guess, its my first 6 speed. I just dont know why some are $25 (ws6store one i think) and some are like $125.
What would you suggest?
Thanks, Ryan

ive never seen a short throw that was 25$, ive seen a lou's short stick, which is just the shaft that is shorted that connects to the base of the shifter, and it was like $50. I have the factory hurst and i think im going to go with a b&m ripper shifter b/c i drove one of my friends z06 with one on it. your shift **** should fit all aftermarket short throw shifters for your car.

yeah the $25 ones are just the shift stick...not the shifter assembly.
they make a hell of an improvement over the crappy stock unit. so if you're on a budget...do go for it.
but an aftermarket shifter is the best way to get a realy tight shifter with shorter throws.

I have the WS6 store short stick. Next to my cutout it was single hardly the best mod i have done. later on if you want it to even be shorter you can get the pro 5.0 and the Ws6 stick together. To make it really short.

i think i might have to be spoon fed this one, lol. I dont care about $ at all, since its only gona be a hundred and some anyways. I just want the SHORTEST, TIGHTEST, MOST FIRM, EASY, BEST shifts. or whatever you want to call them. I dont care what i need to get, i just want to get the best, mess w/ it once, and be done. sounds like pro 5.0 and something.....?

Remember, that when you shorten the stick, you loose leverage and shift effort goes up.
so let me see if i understand this all. There are actually 3 parts to my shifting system if you could call it that, that i can up grade 1. the shifter 2. the stick for the shifter and 3. the shift ****. of which i will probably want a pro 5.0 w/ a ws6store short stick?
Correct or not?
Thanks for being patient everyone....
hard to believe that i could spec out a cam, but dont know about these, just never had to worry about it w/ an A4 in the past..

By going off of what you want, you would seem to be happy with a Pro 5.0 and a short stick.

The WS6 short stick comes in two length's 6" or 6.5". I got the 6.5" version - a big improvement over the OEM stick, and I'm still am running the stock oem shifter (Hurst). Definitely a must have mod. My only regret was that I didn't do it sooner.

Really man if your short on cash. Do the Short stick first. Then ask your self if you want it to go any shorter. thats what i did and i am still happy with my short stick

I cut over an inch off of the Pro 5.0 stick that came with the shifter and it's perfect. Other short sticks with the Pro 5.0 shifter just don't work as well. The Pro 5.0 Power Tower is basically mounted off-center compared to the stock shifter and therefore a straight stick does not work well enough. The Pro 5.0 stick that comes in the box is angled and works perfectly with at least 1" cut off of it.
Just put the stick in a vice and use a hack saw with a fine-toothed blade. Cuts right through it. Then use a file or a grinder to bevel the edges of the threads so the shift **** goes on easier.

I bought a after market hurst billet shifter(was told at a later date that they were really hard on the Shift forks) and its REALLY tall. If i buy a WS6 store short stick will it bolt to the after market hurst? or should i just say fk it and cut and weld it(i work in a machine/welding shop in the army)

I've got the Pro 5.0 and Lou's Short Stick. I love it. The short stick bolts right on, and with locktite, it stays on. Third gear is not always easy to get. I have to baby it, Probably due to motor mounts, but I'm used to it. The Pro 5.0 has adjustable overtravel stops, supposedly to protect the shift forks. Some of the others may have these as well.
