Default Worn synchros?

I have a 99 Camaro SS. I got the T56 rebuilt at 60k miles, right after i bought the car (knowing I bought it with a bum 5th gear). It's at 100k now. I just slapped on a new clutch, flywheel, and master cylinder. The suspension is new, the brakes are new. I changed the fluid in it a couple months ago and it was a healthy red... didn't smell burnt at all. I don't race this car, so it has just been DD'd every mile of the last 40k.

My issue is that it is difficult to shift. Moving that stick is one movement to neutral, followed by another to the gear. It's never one smooth motion, always two that take a little oomph.

Am I looking at prematurely worn synchros (the factory ones were replaced with some longer life ones by the specialty shop I used), or should I be looking for other options to eliminate?

The shop that rebuilt it was Transmission Specialists (I think... I'll check the shipping box when I get home) in Newcastle, IN about 3 years ago. They did upgrade the shift forks to steel along with the better (apparently?) synchros and other stuff.

Yeah certain people get longer life out of blocker rings than others. Sounds like the blockers just need to be replaced. If the fluid looked good that is a good thing. Make sure you keep it changed and it will last alot longer.

Thanks for the information, Amber.

What's the turnaround time and rough cost for something like that? Sending off the M6 will mean I'll have to do it some time of year where I'm out of town again, and not driving the car.

Edit:looking at your page, it looks like I'd just send it in for the standard teardown and rebuild when I have the time.

Agh... I was just in Houston and the T56 was out of the car last week for the clutch.

I should've checked it as baggage and brought it.

Should have. If you supply me with one usually 2-3 days. Right now we are getting to the quick since we hired a new tear down guy. My assembler keeps him busy with tearing down 10 daily.

Don't use the mity vac. It causes the seals to break down in the master. I only use it as a last case worse case senario. Go old style. Never had issues with bleeding it the old style way.

Yeah, I had a shop do the clutch install (having no garage sucks ), and asked that they put fresh fluid in the hydraulics. They gave me **** when I reminded them to bleed the system, just because I normally try to avoid telling them how to do their job.
