MN12 in T/A, shifter problem HELP!

MN12 in T/A, shifter problem HELP! I just installed a mn12 from a gto into my 02 T/A. I put the shifter that was on the car when I got it, which is a pro 5.0. The shifter sits too far forward, makes it hard to get the car in 1st and reverse! Anybody have a problem like this? Will I need a different shifter? Any help will be much appreciated
No you have to remove the shifter cup and reverse reluctor to make it work. They are different in the GTO and the FB. You need to buy the fbody piece which will require using a punch, remove the old one, buy a new one and install it. Kind of complicated to do with the tranny in the car. Other than that you are always going to have issues. We do the conversions and I know for a fact if you don't change that piece you will tear up the trans.

The MN12 is NOT a direct swap. There are parts that need to be changed to make it work properly in and f-body. Dont drive your car untll this is done becasue chances are you will beark something. I dont know the name of the part, but its the part that the ball on the bottom of the shifter sits into. Maybe Joe or Amber can elaborate more on this.
