Default How do I bleed the entire clutch hyraulic system?

I'm doing an m6 swap on my car. I need to know how to bleed the master cykinder and slave. I already have the master cylinder in the car and was hoping not to have to pull it out again. Can just use the bleeder valve on the slave cylinder while someone pumps the clutch untill the pressure comes back to the clutch, or do I need to do the master cylinder seperately? What is the easiest method?

Stop being such a lazy bitch and just take the master cylinder out.

Also, there is air coming out of the master cylinder where the rod for the pedal goes in. Is that normal or is it broken?

If I were you I would pedal bleed through the slave first to try and at least get all the air out of the slave. Then yank the M/C and bench bleed it.

Here's all you'll need to know:

Good Luck,

Well I don't have a second master cylinder. I also have no clue where to get this mitivac thing. I'm wondering if th4 master cylinder is broken.

Is it a stock MC or Mcleod? The McLeods are a PITA to bleed and hide a ton of air. The stock ones are much easier to bleed and you could probably use just the pedal methods for a stock MC.

You can pick a mity vac up at some of the major automotive or hardware stores. (Home Depot, Lowes, Maybe Pepboys). The Mity Vac is a handy tool to have for bleeding clutches and brakes.

Good luck,

You can get the minivac at sears, it makes bleeding it alot eaiser, you might also wanna look for joe kizzare's "reverse bleeding" method.

It is a stock master cylinder.
I'll go by sears and look for the mitivac if the other methods don't work.

I got these instructions from installuniversity.com:

Now you want to pre-bleed the system to get remove any air trapped in the system. You will need to fill the reservoir up with DOT 3 approved brake fluid and force air into the reservoir or suck air out of the quick connect fitting end until the air is bleed completely. Have your friend push and pump on the master cylinder actuating rod by hand while you press on the center of the quick disconnect fitting at the end of the steel braided line. This will "bench bleed" or pre-bleed the system.

When I try to do this i feel air coming out of the top of the m/c by the rod. I didn't think it was suppose to do that?!?

Okay I got the mitivac system from sears. Used it and it ******* broke b4 I finished. The pump no longer pumps.

I've been workin on bench bleeding it the older way by hand. How do you know when it's completely bled? This things is really pissin me off. I just want to get it running. I'll get a mcloud adjustable one and work on the other method later. Any tips?

take the minivac back, it sounds defected, also did you look for joe kizzares bleeding method? When i bleed mine i would just push the clutch to the floor then have a friend open the bleeder valve in the salve and when fluid started comming out we would shut the valve and repeat.
