setting up a t56 from lt1 behind a 76 big block?

setting up a t56 from lt1 behind a 76 big block? Is anyone familiar the requirements to get a 96 t56 onto a ext balanced 76 big block.
I have a 71 Chevelle project I'd like to get this t56 installed on, I'm going to make a stock cruiser out of it so hopefully I can get by with stock parts.
Will a stock lt1 bell housing work, What about Flywheel and clutch setup?
I also have another project were I'd like to install a t56 onto a 6.5 GM diesel, Can it be done? What process would it involve.
