SHOULD I BUY A PRO 50 or HURST BILLET SHIFTER?
I currently have the SLP/Hurst shifter in my SS. I installed a shorter handle, but It is still notchy and I miss 2nd gear 99% of the time. I'm planing on doing the drill mod, but I think a better shifter will help as well.
I just thought I would take a poll ans see which one seems to be the most popular.
THANKS

how do you miss 2nd gear .
A new shifter isn't going to solve that problem as all you do is go down.
A 5.0 is a great shifter, and would reccomend it to anyone that can stand a notchy feeling.

Drive them both and see. that's what I did. This poll is worthless and this thread is super redundant. Like litterally 100 or more before it, It's going to come out to Pro 5.0, the most notchy of all, and the most common because this site is mostly drag racers.
If you don't like notchy, then your choice is probably the B&M Ripper.

i road raced my old f-body a lot, pro 5.0 with a short stick got interesting when you needed to find a gear fast but a few laps worth of practice and it was second nature. 5.0 has the shortest throws of any f-body shifter i've ever used (especially with a short stick) and, yes, it's notchy but this aint no miata we're driving here...the upside of its notchiness is that the shifts are very positive too

The notchy feeling is why I'm missing gears. I'm use to power shifter Mustangs and when I yank back to second gear it was like butter. My car now, when I yank back on her and I feel some resistance/notchy feeling I have a habit of dipping the clutch. This results in a missed shift. I know they are 2 worlds apart. I just know that my Mustang stock shifter was like that, then when I switched to a Steeda, it was heaven. Some people swore I had an automatic the way I would snap second.
I just thought it was my shifter having a notchy feel and if I replaced it with a better one it would be alot smoother. Now that I have noticed my clutch master cylinder is black, mabe that has a lot to do with it.
I also goint to do the "drill mod" to the restriction on the clutch line.

I like my Pro 5.0. It's not that notchy compared to my friends Fox body with a Pro 5.0, or even my friends 03 Cobra with a Pro 5.0. It's the smoothest out of all of them.
