Default T56 or Richmond "ROD" 6-spd

Need anew tranny for my pro-touring 69 Camaro. Engine is a TT ls2. I am looking for a gearbox that will take the abuse of a street/highway-driven vehicle. I had a chance to use "test" a Richmond before and I like the fact that it is virtuall impossible to miss a gear. Never had a chance to shift a T56 vehicle yet. Any feedback reguarding the T56 would be nice. Thanks.

Never driven a Richmond around, but I have driven trannys with external linkage. I prefer internal rail shifters. I have seen some t56's take some abuse and they're very smooth.

I'm sure people have gone quicker, but I've personally seen 6.80's at over 100mph on a stock t56 with stock weight 02 camaro.

Hope that helps.

Besides that, you already have the ls2, the t56 will bolt right up minus setting up some hydraulics for it.

i think it really depends what you are loking for. you you drag your car the ROD would not be verry good because of the 1:1 5th it just give you one more gear to shift into. but if it is a cruser the ROD would be better because you could run less gear imo.

What about missing shifts? I hear alot of people missing second gear with T56's? Again, I am not to familiar with internal rail shifter tranny's...
Thanks for your help.

Alot of that has to do with the drivers too! I'd vote T56 all the way!

Yup, I hear you about the driver...that makes since...i'm just use to the self-centering HURST shifters/linkage on my old Muncies and Super T-10.

Nay, I've only missed the 2-3 and that is very seldom.
