Default Trouble hitting gears under hard acceleration

I have a OZ700 and it seems fine under normal driving. I havn't noticed every time but I have been missing 3rd more than normal around 6300rpm. I didnt do the drill mod just a new slave and clutch set. I'm not claiming to be an outstanding driver but I can usually grab a gear pretty good. The peadle is in but it won't go in third. Does this just sound like driver error or does something in my hydralics system need upgraded to solve the problem or does it sound like sychros maybe? Thanks

Sounds like hydraulics to me. I rebuilt my McLeod master (after the first one was leaking) and have had the issue ever since. I plan on pulling the tranny in the spring to replace the slave. You already have new slave/master so perhaps rebleeding it will help.

With some clutches they need an adjustable master to work right. If you have to replace the master, I urge you to do the drill mod since it will be out anyway.

I did the drill mod with mine and still have problems shifting. from 2nd to 3rd. I dont know what else to do. I have a new clutch, master, and slave cylinder. Maybe I should get the mcleoud master cylinder $325.00 expensive.

Ram makes an adjustable that costs less, and you can even convert your existing one to be adjustable do a search as it's a DIY move. Also Cartech sells one.

when i'm really ripping it it just wont go in. Today after work i took off just normal driving and it ground goin in second, third, and fourth. Only did it once though. When i got back in town and driving they never did it again. I made sure i pushed the peddal all the way down and it didn't do it. I think my hydralics are just weak. I'm gonna try to re bleed it and i'm gonna need to eventually step up to a better master and slave. I usually only have problems though at really high rpm. It seems like when i just smash it the hydros aren't putting enough pressure or something because its like i didnt push the clutch in. Go to hit the gear and by that time i'm starting to hit the gas and it just revs really high because it didn't get in the gate.

Sometimes bad 3rd/4th syncro's will cause this problem.

To start off, jack your car up and see if the tires stop spinning when you push the clutch pedal in while in gear. Then rev it to see if it is dragging ever so slightly. If it's dragging, then your problem is most likely the master or something else in the hydraulics.

Right before I got my McLeod I was having trouble shifting at high rpms. Normal driving it was fine, but when I was trying to pound it I would get blocked out on every shift. Everything was fresh except for the mc, which had about 43-44k on it. After I replaced that with a new McLeod everything was perfect again.

never heard of it. Me and everyone else I know just run regular Dex 3 from Oreilys. I put 4 quarts in when I did my clutch.

I use the Synchromesh, but using regular ATF wouldn't be causing this issue.

Hmm well i might have to check into this synchromesh anyway if it's pretty good stuff. When i'm getting blocked out like i am is that hurting the clutch any? Or just bad for the trans?

Smile

On my 98 with no upgrade on Hydraulics and tranny was not upgraded to a rebuild, I would miss third all day, and second alot also at 6500 rpms, with my 00, I have had the tranny rebuilt for 700rwhp and Hydraulics upgraded to the 01-02's with the drill mod, no problems anymore with the missing third gear problem.

Who did your trans? Another thing I forgot to mention is when I was putting in the clutch I took out the screws on the slave but forgot to take it off the shaft when I lowered the trans and broke it. Needed one asap so I have one from Oreilys in it. Think thats the problem?
