Default ?????LS7 clutch????

I got a 2000 ss and tomorrow i am putting a ls7 pressure plate, disk and flywheel. i know other people of done this set up. i was wondering the outcome and how much better the clutch grabbed compared to the stock ls1 clutch. and since the flywheel is a bit heavier than stock wouldnt that cause my acceleration to be slower. i know the heavier flywheel would be good for a launch because it will build up inertia im just concerned about the acceleration

I love mine. As far as grabbing, whenever I shift hard into fourth and ocasionally going into fifth I bark the tires/get a bit of wheelhop. It has a very smooth engagment as well. I haven't noticed a difference in acceleration, but my old clutch slipped horribly and its hard to compare it to that. Its not really heavy enough to make TOO big of a difference.

No complaints here so far from mine. Grabs WAY better than my old stock LS1 clutch. Be sure you upgrade your hydrolics to the 01-02 slave and master cylinders. I haven't noticed a decrease in acceleration. When you first install it you'll notice that it grabs right off of the floor, so you might stall it. It's normal and will go away after some time.

No you have to go with the LS2 flywheel not the LS7. ..

Check out SDPC out over here ------------------------------------>

They have a complete clutch setup with everything you need for $399.99

^^^ The LS2 & LS7 both use the same flywheel #12571611, but yeah sdpc has the kit for great price, clutch is as smooth as butter.

Oh ok well i know thats just what SDPC said about using the LS2 flywheel with the LS7 clutch setup. But if the LS7 will work then go for it

Mine holds as good if not better than my Spec 2+ did and its held up longer. Plus it doesn't chatter like a 13 year old girl. Pedal feel is a little soft for my tastes but I let my dad drive it and he said it feels great. I'm used to a lot stiffer clutch so I may be a little nitpicky about that.

What is the HP limit for this clutch? What are the limits of it? Like is drag racing on a slick and it hooking a problem with high hp or what? I am intersted in this clutch because it is so cheap but would like to make sure that in just a few months I am not buying another clutch.

Mine held up great and I was pushing close to 600 rwhp on spray. I ran mine with Hoosier slicks at the track but never really got a good sixty ft (1.71) out of it due to the 3.42s. Ran my car numerous times in the highway also and never had a single problem with the clutch

Default Clutch

I have 4.10 gears and a F14 cam andIamusing the ls7 clutch kit with ls2 flywheel. More forgiving than any spec clutch and definitely has plenty of clamping force. If you are going to be dumping it at the track alot i would go with spec stage 3 or the 2+. I think this clutch is bad as hell to dd a car with power.

Is the external dimension of the LS7 clutch pressure plate different from the LS1? I'm doing a conversion and will be using a non-T56 bell housing. The LS1 clutch fits but I'm not sure about the LS7.
Thanks, Gary

Great streetable clutch, installed two of these, with some help, you better shim it, alot of debate on this, but its the only way to go when you do this, spec sells the shims.

Default clutch

Dude it should still fit inside the bellhousing regardless unless someone sent you something completely wrong. The bellhousing depth should be about the same if you bought it to adapt to an ls1 and t-56. You are not being very clear on what you are doing maybe you should give us some of the equipment info so we can help you a little better.

I'm waiting for the carbed LS3 based, 6.2l, 520hp motor to come out. I'm dropping it in my 68 vette, using the existing Muncie bell housing and trans. Others have done this with LS1s, but I'm afraid the LS1 clutch wont hold up to 550hp. So I was going to use the LS2 or7 flywheel and clutch, but was afraid it's external dimensions were larger and it might not fit the Muncie bell housing.
Any info/pics of the LS1 vs LS7 flywheel and pressure plate would be great.

I have asked several vendors and they all think hat the LS7 wouldn't be a good choice. For me
