i think the RPS clutch is the lightest from what i've found, their single disc is only rated to like 550lb though, but the flywheel and clutch weigh 34lbs, vs like 42 for a spec alum and 3+ clutch, but they ahve a twin disc that holds 700lb+

I've had the McLeod Sreet Twin in my car since 2003 (Borg & Beck). I installed their master at the same time and used my original slave. It has made well over a hundred hard passes at the strip, numerous sessions of street action and several track days at a road course. It's so trouble free that my wife drives it.
I have only bled the system a couple of times over the years (it needs it now - have to pump it to get reverse.) At the time I modded the car there were'nt as many options. I have been completely satisfied with the route I took.

I had to replace my input shaft twice due to that. Sent the clutch back several times and was told it was my fault. They used every excuse in the book. Very bad custumer service. I make close to 800hp/tq on nitrous and only use a ram 402/910 single and love it. Dozens of 1.3x - 1.5x 60's and stillo kicking.

I voted other. I believe the RPS twin disk is the best. They are fully rebuildable even the flywheel. They do cost a lot more than the others, but I believe are well worth it.

I am taking out my engine for the new 408 install and debating changing out my clutch.I have the tex twin but aps the company that makes my turbos said they went thru a few tex twins at my power level and had to switch to some custom clutch. I am fairly happy with the tex twin now ,it has reasonable pedal pressure, it does have annoying floater rattle when clutch pedal is pushed in, so usually leave it in neutral at the lights.
Its also still a bit touchy to drive in heavy traffic.
One option might be to go up to tex triple and maybe run their more street discs but the floater rattle would likely still be there and its another grand I think up and even more as would lose selling mine of course.
Spec twins sound good but do they have floater rattle? No mention on spec site about any kind of antirattle strategy.
Ram twin requires their own master and not into adjustable masters after disaster with one in the past. Mcleod also adjustable master. So think that leaves the spec as it uses stock hydraulics. If it has no noticeable floater plate rattle then its likely the one maybe from me .
So lets here it spec twin guys.floater rattle or not? I would be looking at think the second level of spec twin. Figure on 600 or so rwhp most of the time but occasionally might go up to 850 or so max possilby 1000 with spray. So sounds like stage 2 should be the one in the spec line.I wish tex would redesign and include anti rattle in their clutches.
Also who is running a tex twin with 850 or so rwhp? Are they hype for power handling or not?

i have 2002 convertible camaro ss t56 only 7,ooo miles .tranny 5,6 gear came out while driving. sometimes the cluch pedal stays down at stop position

I got the new style composite stands from RAM for the Dual Street to eliminate the rattle. I actually had purchased an OZ700 X grip but sold it when I got these new stands. Once the rattle is gone this is a phenominal clutch. Smooth as silk but clamps hard.

any news on this new McLeod RST & RXT street twin?? they are rated at like 800 & 1000 hp. Supposively they came out not too long ago so I haven't seen anyone using them yet.

all this different info makes it hard to choose a clutch. im going twin disc too since my 402 fried my current clutch. i would like something with a nice light pedal, my old clutch had a really heavy pedal and i would like something with a stockish feel, the heavy pedal made powershifting hard.

My RPS twin carbon/carbon has a stock pedal feel and is not on and off like a heavy duty single disk it feels like stock, but holds 1000hp. Its rebuildable for 400 dollars.

They have had some supplier issues on those clutches, hope to see more results soon.

Tex twin is not bad for pedal pressure ,pretty reasonable but would not call it stockish.
Its pretty grabby clutch and can be made more annoying in traffic depending on cam choice. Tex did have some street discs they sent me to try out.They are more street friendly than the standard discs and think good for about 700rwhp.Course the tex single is good for about same power and is very stockish on pedal feel. You could go with the tex twin level 1 or level 2. I was going to try a spec twin at some point if just get sick of my tex twin. My tex twin has floater rattle when you push in clutch annoying a bit. Not sure if the spec twin has the rattle. Mcleod twin and ram twin don't have the rattle.
I am actually about ready to rip out the clutch and just go 4l80e and nice stall and think will convert car over next year. I am too old for this clutch crap!

i was looking at the RXT twin from mcleod at ws6store, could you buy this clutch and pair it up with a flywheel of your choice, rather than dropping 1800 on a twin disc setup with the aluminum flywheel

Just showing that there are further twins on the market that are priced great, streetable and hold big power... but don't take our word for it... watch this video of Mike Peters beating the crap out a one of our units in a LS magnacharged drift car... He clutch kicks at 6000RPM over and over and over... 2 years worth as a matter of fact, since thats how long he has run this Zoom D2 unit.

I have a RXT in a Z06 but it's limited on beatings so far.Drives very nice.

Still all my high hp street cars run SPEC PT clutches with no failures with some 800rwhp cars pushing 40k miles on them with well over 100 passes.

Just had the SPEC SS Super Twin installed and my shop said the same thing. "Best clutch we've ever installed," was their exact words. Drives like stock and has zero floater plate rattle that I can hear.
