Grinding in 1st?

Grinding in 1st?

My car is a stock 2000 ss and when ever i try to downshift into first at any speed that isnt a slow crawl it grinds. Is this normal?

Blocker rings are probably toast. Same thing in my car, can't get it into 1st unless I'm at a dead stop and the trans has stopped spinning. I'm tearing into it as soon as the weather warms a little.

If i rev it a little it will go in sometimes. I can get it in at 20 or so.

Every trans has a magic rpm that in theroy you do not need to use the clutch to shift. I've seen it work, thats prob what your exp. It should not be grinding.
