Hade my Mc Loed master for 5 years and 3 different clutches. It's strait off the shelf and has never given me one problem. Good pressure and release level.
Gone through 2 slaves though.

Odd, I took apart the master today and there was a piece of plastic melted to the spring. Plus if I look through the bore I can see 2 scratch marks on the wall. Time to rehone and bore to clean it up. I'm really curious where the hell a piece of plastic came from, I'm sure it was not helping the situation. Trans is still down so I haven't bought the NAPA part yet. The wilwood kit is still on back order till 7-21-08.

I will have to try this next time I have it out. I hate this god damned POS. You can see my posts on here and on mcleods forum about it.
I hate the fact that we have to go through so much b.s. on a 350$ part

I just realized the scratches I can see are the 2 fill holes. I assume the rubber going past that repeatedly is what causes it to tear over time? Why will the rubber in the Wilwood kit not do the same thing? And it looks like the rubber in the Wilwood kit is recessed so it sits IN the plunger vs. on top like the regular McLeod? Pics from post # 47. Also referring to post #58, is it imperative to get the hole lined up (that's what she said)?

This is a very late post I know but I just read this whole thread and I ordered the kit from JEGS. It is no longer on back order (or at least it didn't say anything about being). We noticed that my McCloud MC was leaking today after installing a new clutch. The pedal pressure has been excessively heavy to say the least so I'm not totally surprised. I'm really hoping that this will fix the leak and the ridiculously heavy pedal and that it will go in smooth without having to hone out the walls. I think the MC was purchased around 2005, but can't be certain since the previous owner was the one who got it.

McLeoud says on their site that their new "Gen. II" MC has all these problems fixed. I don't know exactly when these "Gen II" units started being produced but mine was purchased about a year and a half ago. I got the Wilwood kit in the other day on took the McLeoud apart to rebuild it. To my chagrin, I discovered that the side walls were not too small for the 13/16 Wilwood kit, but in fact were too big. The original piston had scraped against the sides so much it had shaved off metal and now the new one won't make a good seal. It might still be able to be salvaged if I hone it out even more and find an even bigger diameter piston that will work with it, but it's probably just toast. I finally just said the hell with it an ordered a much better Tick Performance MC that I will be installing this next week. I really wish I could find the receipt to the McLeoud so I could trade it back in for a new one but I'm just tired of waiting on messing with it.
