Default question on drill mod

i read all about the drill mod my question is simple.. why do i need to remove the master and the line to drill the hose? can't i just disconnect it from the trans drill and flush the metal out of the line and then continue on with the flush of the whole system?

It is quite a challenge to remove the roll pin from the master to relaese the line witht the master installed.
It also helps to have the assembly out of car to bench bleed it before re-installation.

Are you thinking you drill the end that goes into the trans??? If so...like wrencher hinted one...its the end that goes into the master. Ill venture to say you wont get the roll pin out with it still installed. Not to mention fluid will go all over the place and it will eat your paint.

You gotta pull it all out.

No, when you disconnect it from the trans. the quick disconnect it will seal itself. To be safe get all the old fluid out of the reservoir, and cap it off, to start the project. Your gonna have to re-bleed the system anyways. Good luck

Yeah just pop the disconnect and wipe it off real good. It wont leak anymore fluid, unless the fitting is bad. Then get a bulb syringe (I stole the turkey baster...shhhh) and suck out the reservoir. I stick a couple paper towels in there and put the lid back on without the little black seal...just in case. You'll be ok then....the system is pretty fluid tight when its out like that.
