Clutch for a 402 making 500whp give or take a few

I started with a McLeod, then tried the newly released '01 Z06 clutch (lasted 2 months), then a Spec 2, then a Spec 3, then a RAM, then a LS7. They all seemed to last about 2-3 years before requiring replacement. I just don't believe the costly solutions such as RPS, Exedy, and Textralia will have any longer lifetime than those I've already tried.
I may need another new clutch soon, and depending upon what we find wrong, my first choice will probably be the LS7 again. But I'm not making the torque you'll have. Try to find a vendor which gives you peace of mind with their support and/or warranty policy... and knock on wood.

Even though I didn't have a great experience with my Textralia I would still recomend the clutch. I wish i realized about engagement issues before it was too late. That clutch had 3k miles on it, launches at 6800rpms on DR's with a 3900lbs car and had Very Very little wear. Thats pretty good for having 421rwhp N/A and 100-150 shot as well. I think if we had known that I needed an adjustable clutch master and took the time to fine tune it, the clutch would have lasted a long time. The driveability of that clutch was fantastic.

I had a Tex oz700 & upgraded hydraulics on about 410rwhp and driving it was awesome. but I did have either a) engagement issues or b) hydraulic/master cylinder issues under fast acceleration/high rpm shifts. I replaced a Centerforce dual friction clutch as it gave out from previous owner. with a different car now & different setup, I'm shooting for 550rwhp turbo'd 347 DD and can't decide which clutch either. seems like dual friction, not centerforce, is what I'll look in to.

Hey LS, sorry for the delayed response. I was out of the office at the end of last week with the flu. I am glad to be back among the healthy. You can contact any of our dealers for pricing (T56, Tbyrn, Livernois, SpeedInc, WS6 Store, etc)...as many of them will work with you a bit. Let me know if you have any further questions. Thanks!

All those things you ask for for a 550-600 RWHP don't really exist. Some maybe partially driveable... but its not going to be stock feel. Affordable... that depends on your view of "affordable" and high torque capacity/horsepower capacity go along with what you are willing to accept as "driveable". You may need to look into a twin disc setup.

I dont know whats up with you guys with chattering 3+ 's but every 3+ ive driven did not chtter a bit. Mine didnt even chatter really when i first installed it.
I chalk the majority of clutch failures (most not all) to shitty install and shitty drivers.

Since 900rwhp has not been able to tear it up yet I could have said higher. The 750 rating is extremely conservative. Brad how about you put this clutch in your car and see for yourself. That will make a believer out of you

That clutch is too expensive IMO. If they will give my just the disc and plate for a decent price I might be game. I already have a billet flywheel so i wont waste my $$ on another one.
