Default Luk=Exedy

Im looking on ebay for an oem z06 clutch setup, and on a few auctions Ive seen it has said something along the line of

Exedy/Luk Clutch
Exedy/ Luk Flywheel

Did exedy buy luk or vice versa? Or is it like a pacesetter/hooker situation where the pacesetters are the cheaper style vs hooker But they are the same brand/.

Luk probably supplies exedy with their pressure plates. Luk pretty much supplies everyone with their pressure plates that they put a nice paint job on. Same thing with valeo. Generally the clutch manufacturers will determine the friction material needed for the particular clutch they are designing.

Almost all aftermarket clutch companies use stock type plates (luk, valeo) and they modify them such as changing out the springs and guts and changing certain points in the plate diaphram.

honestly, all of the above is what I found out when I was researching clutches for my daily driver. So I just decided to cut out the middle man and go with LuK for my clutch...

Luk and Exedy (Daikin) are all OEM clutch manufacturer.

Exedy (Daikin) -manufactures almost all Japanese cars and some Domestic.
Luk - manufactures European and some domestic(not 100% sure).

Now for the 2 comapanies, in order to complete thier line(applications for diffrent cars).

Luk buys pcs(parts) from Exedy, while Exedy buys pcs (parts) from Luk.

It will be "reboxed" from the company's own box and call it thier own.

I could be wrong but the OEM clutch for camaro's are made by Luk.

But if you buy an Exedy hyper single or multi plate, those are manufactured
by Exedy.
If you buy an OEM Clutch from Exedy that might be a Luk product reboxed by
Exedy.

Default By exedy and get luk

I just bought an exedy clutch for my ford focus (here in oz) and when I got the kit, it was all luk parts. Not one piece in the whole kit was made or branded with/by exedy (sorry, the little tube of oil that comes with the kit and the box it came in have exedy written on them). I might have to start selling old beat up Datsuns as Ferraris and Porsches on eBay

I believe luk makes it and exedy sells it. My dd is a 03 accord v6 coupe. Honda uses an exedy for an oem replacement. which is made by luk. bought a luk clutch off amazon for it for around $130 complete. exedy was almost 300 for the same part number.
