Yes exactly!!! The hyd. housing looked like a no-name brand, but the bearing from the autozone one looked fantastic compared to the ones I saw from GM and from Advance. Im waiting for the one from GM to come in and Ill compare the two.

Maybe Ill put the bearing from the GM one on the autozone one and return it..hehe. Then Ill have the right hydraulics and the prettier bearing. I kid I kid...

I miss working at autozone...Because I would have just VPD'd another one and compared the two. Or would have been able to do a little more research on them.

I did get 20% on the one that I got from them though Im just wondering why the casting has no part numbers thats all.

The condom isnt the part that has the color in question. Its the fitting itself. The ones pictured have a greenish tint to them. Some of them have an oranish tint to them.

I still havent seen any info on what exactly is updated about them... which orifice is larger, which spring valve is lighter... whatever. I dont even know whats in them. haha.

Well i just picked one up that is identical to your's -SLP Same # and color. ($72) At first the new one looked taller siting side by side, but after pushing on it found that it had been sticking. That would make mine engage real close to the floor correct?? Because it never did come up any... after time and prob. helped aid in my fu(ked up trans. and yeah thats what amber said, they dont even make the old style any more.

Yeah I know they dont make the old style new anymore...but I guess I was afraid those units from autozone were reman... With the price being so low WITH a bearing, I figured they were. So if the update lies in the casting passages, then there is a possibility you could get a crap one.

But maybe they arent reman?? The idiot at advance told me they were...but I dont trust those guys to know their own names. I dont know... Just also weird that they dont seem to list the one they have in stock for the 01-02 cars. Only for the older ones. You ask for a 99 and they have one in stock, along with the other part numbers listed as special order. you ask for an 01 or 02...and they are all special order.

Weird. Im starting to regret ordering from Fred Beans now though. They are only a couple hours away from me... Nothing has shipped yet. So I might as well use the autozone unless I want to be held up even longer. I might go back to autozone this weekend and see if they got another one in. If it has teh AP and part number maybe Ill just swap it for safety sake. I dont know. Ill figure something out.

If they were a remanufactured unit they would prob. want the old one or charge a core.

Good call on the core. Like I said..Im starting to feel dumb for ordering from fred beans.

Is the general concensus that you guys would run the one that I have even without the "AP" number on it? Or would you try to nab one with AP, regardless of connector color?

Maybe I can still call Fred Beans and cancel my order...since it hasnt shipped or anything.

Ok... Here is some new info.

Went back to Autozone yesterday, because I knew they'd have a new one in stock by now to replace the one I got.

It was in fact an AP casting. Here is what was weird about this one. The bearing was in a separate package. It looked kind of funny compared to the nice one on mine. And the darn fitting was orange.

So...I dont think the fitting color matters as we've said. Im going to swap the one I got for the other one. Take a closer look at the bearing. If I like my bearing better, Im going to swap them as well. So Ill have an AP casting, and that nice bearing that came on my no-part number unit.

Im going to call Fred Beans today to cancel. I cant believe nothing has shipped yet. Creepin up on a week...not sure whats up with that.

Spec's paper work says the gm part numbers for 01 and newer slave and master are 15046288 and 12570277 for f-bodies and 12562767 and 12564455 for vettes. How accurate this is i'm not sure. They say that it applies mostly to pre-00 model years since most 2000 models received the newer model from factory

Ok... Got some more pictures. The one I got today was quite different. However. The one I got today, besides the fitting color, matched the slave that was already on the car much better. The bearing and housing both seemed closer to what was in there. And there was a GM unit in there already.

Here are the pics.

New one on left...

Part numbers on the "newer" one.

Fittings. Newer one on left.

All three. You can sorta see how the bearing on the new one (far right) matches the currently used one (obvious).
