QUICK: LS7 Clutch or Spec Stage 2???
Im getting my tranny rebuilt and cant decide between the LS7 clutch or the spec stg 2 clutch. The spec is slightly cheaper and is a good name brand. Both would work fine for my application. However I have heard some bad things about the LS7 clutch like them not disengaging and dragging, and it also requires the heavier flywheel. As long as I follow the break in perfectly I think the spec might be a better clutch. What do you guys think???

You can't post a thread after midnight in the states, and expect a ton of quick responses lol...
I'd say LS7, if I were going with a Spec, I'd never go with less than a stage 3

Why never less than a stage 3? I dont really like the idea of a pucked clutch, especially since this is my dd and will hardly ever be taken to the track. I want a very streetable clutch that holds really really well.

X2... LS7 is great for a DD. I'll never use another clutch unless I go FI. On my second LS7 (old one got killed by a leaking rear main seal)... and when the time comes, I'll put a third in. I've heard a loy of rants about SPEC, too.

Just letting everyone know there are further options out there. clutch units that offer great street drivability and hold big power...
Not one to blow our own horn so watch this video of Mike Peters beating the hell out of an LS magnacharged powered drift car. He repeatedly clutch kicks the mess out of it at 6000RPM during his runs... He installed the unit almost 2 years ago and is still running it!

Consider the options and realize the no matter what part you choose...someone will always have something to say about it (positive or negative). There are countless success stories with our clutches from stage 1 to the Super-Twin customers that swear by them. That being said, as any manufacture knows, it is impossible to make everyone happy 100% of the time...but we do our very best to provide a great product at a great price and should you ever have an issue we are here to assist you.
Remember that no matter what clutch you buy installation, break-in, flatness of the flywheel used in coordination with the clutch, and driving style can all affect the life of the unit. Make sure that you get a clutch that is rated to handle your planned torque output and then make the choice that best suits your needs.
If you have any questions about our product let me know and I will be happy to assist you further. Thanks for your time!

I recently went with a SPEC stg 2 and I love it. Very streetable, no chatter, and it grabs really hard. The catch point was back to stock (mid pedal travel) within 100 miles. Just make sure to get the flywheel resurfaced and balanced with the pressure plate. I have a little over 1000 miles on it and no problems so far!
