Default installing a bulit t-5 into an ls1 f-body

allright before you guys say that t-5s are junk this an astro promance t-5 good for 650hp &500 ftlbs tq at 3400 lbs

i'm going to part out my mustang project, beacuse i want a 98 up ws6 i have a brand new trans still for it, i was wonder if it was possblile to swap it in place of eaither an auto, or t56 any one know what bell housing i would need if i can just use the cross brace from a v6 f-body and mount my trans on that.

really don't want to take a major loss on the trans, senes it new and bulit thanks

It can be done, but be prepared for alot of work, cutting, etc. Unless your married to that T5 and very handy with fabrication, I'd say sell it, cut your losses, and invest in a T56.

Take a loss. Get a T56. I've built both. I've swapped both (into auto vehicles)

You would need an extended pilot bushing for one, and then you have to figure out if there is one to match the Ford input to the Chevy pilot size. The Ford front pattern of the T5 case and a SBC / LS pattern bellhousing would require custom (although McLeod's adapter bellhousing parts might do it - more $.)

If it's a coarse spline disc & needs to mate to an LS flywheel; whoops - more custom parts.

Enjoy spending money to save money. One reason I have a mechanical clutch linkage setup & "T5" clutch with a 1995 LT1 T56 is because the service parts are cheaper and the fabrication was all me (other than a sleeve job on the bearing retainer.)

The Astro T5 is a good trans when it comes to T5's but in no way , shape or form will handle the abuse like a T56 will . Sell off the unit and buy the correct one .

i'm not married on it, i just wanted to make sure before i sold it, to make sure it's not a simple swap, as for the overdrive i got the .59 beacuse of my 4.10s
and i was not drinking, just tired as hell like i'm allways am. thanks for the help. i have allways wanted a 98 up ws6 so i decide to just part this thing out. don't have the time to work on it, so i just wanna get something done.

If the unit is for a Ford , it will not work any ways .
