well today is day #2 with the shifter and its a blast. i didn't like it at first, granted i was driving only down the street with my sister in the car so it was very light shifting. the shifter is very stiff. that said, its also very precise and short. it makes driving the car smoother, if that makes sense, since you tend to shift quicker. shifter location is perfect, as is height. i love it. i wish i had a pro 5.0 to compare it to.

previous shifters:

stock hurst
stock hurst with UMI short stick
B&M Ripper (now for sale )

i'm gonna go snap a pic of it once my camera battery charges a little

Now all we need to know is a comparison between the pro 5.0 and this. This one sounds good.

Thumbs up

FWIW, I had the Pro 5.0 in my SS for 5+ years (great shifter!). Don't have that car anymore, but have a 35% MGW in my Vette. I agree with this exactly.

The only complaint I had with my 5.0 is that w/a short stick I was banging into the console everytime I went into reverse. It was so bad, when I had the gears changed the guys that did it said they couldnt get the car into reverse, they just didnt give it that extra nudge. This shifter looks like it solves that problem.

took some pics. i forgot to mention that i also bought one of MGWs shift *****. its in the pics. one thing i want to note that you can't see in the picture is that there is a screw on the shift **** so you can screw it into the stick and make it straight and immovable.

Neutral

1st gear

2nd gear

Reverse

Shift ****

its good to see the shifter aligned straight unlike the pro 5.0 which is easier for the passenger to shift.

Ive had the mgw shifter for a couple of months now and its awesome. I love it . I can only compare to the stock hurst but its a great shifter. Very precise and short throws.

Nice to see another shifter on the market but I'll stick with my pro 5.0 shifter. I have 0 complaints about my pro 5.0 shifter. I launch at about 6,400rpm and power shift at 7,000rpm with no fear of missing 3rd. My shifter takes som Hard Core Track Abuse and is a proven track performer.

Well I finally got my car running again today and I'm loving this shifter. It is very precise like everyone has said. I can't really go through the gears hard right now cuz I'm breaking in a new clutch. First gear is right in the middle and the shifts are very short compared to the stock hurst.

Sorry for getting a bit repetitive, but anybody has a comparison between this MGW and the beloved 5.0?

Well...this thread got my attention. MGW shifters get accolades from so many people that it's kinda hard to ignore...so maybe I'll have one next week if they ship it then. I've driven a Pro 5.0 and have owned a B&M Ripper (which I still use) and the factory Hurst. We'll see how this one does compared to those, although the comparison will be geared more towards the B&M since I've had the most seat time with that one.

Interesting, if someone switches from a Hurst Billet to this let me know. Mine's a little noisy even though I reused the boot...
