Default accidently started in third gear and clutch stuck to floor then big bluff of smoke?

I was getting off the freeway and turning right at a busy intersection and started forward to turn and I must of been in third gear because the car bogged real badly and jerked forward and the clutch was stuck. Then when the rpm's got up and the car took off I say lots of blue smoke in my rearview mirror. I know I smoked the clutch some since the horrible smell however the clutch ingages fine and doesn't slip and shifts fine. Anybody ever done such a stupid thing?

chances are u took a few thousand miles off the clutch. i had the same problem with my trans am.
i ended up having to pick the pedal off the floor.
i inspected the clutch to find out that i had burned about half the life of a relatively new clutch.

I did that once at the track and cut a 3.5 60ft and had a smelly clutch to go with my smelly time slip.OOPS

After a few hrs my garage finally doesn't smell anymore. The car only has 3500 miles. This is the first time I've ever don't such a thing like this. I couldn't let off the gas an pull the pedal up or wait for it to go back up because of fast moving traffic that was coming. Burnt clutch is better than a wrecked car. At least the clutch still works. I don't like how light the clutches are in these cars. When I eventually need a new clutch are there any that will give a firmer pedal feel?

I had the same problem at the track...launched fine in first gear went to shift into second...oops clutch pedal stuck to the floor board...in my opinion the stock clutch is great for tooling around town and doing minor things...but it can't handle any radical things very well, I'm upgrading to the mcloud street twin soon, hopefully that kit will help solve my problems....

These are the reasons I wish sometimes I would of got a auto instead of a M6. I never had a cars clutch stick to the floor before and hear about that happening a lot on our cars. I love my stangs mechanical clutch. Screw hydraulic clutches. My cars clutch doesn't engage until half way up and has been like this since new. Is that normal?

My 2002 Z-28 dosen't engage until nearly the end of the travel either. It seems normal. Although, after autocrossing this weekend, it seems to engage a little farther out than it did before....guess I'll start shopping for a spare.

Today I did some driving tests to know it the clutch was slipping at all after this. At 35 mph in sixth gear I would push the clutch in and see what the rpm's did and they went down which is good. The bad news I can seem to bark second as good and easily however a did chirp third once.
