If you don't beat a T-56 to death, they seem to hold up quite well. There are guys who can break anvils given enough time. But, as a rule, they seem to hold up very well. (I autocross, etc). And have had no trouble with mine at all.

If you want a fast strip/street car get the auto with a stall, if you autocross or road race get the stick. autos are more consistent but the stick is more fun(accept in rush-hour traffic)

Thanks for the responses! I forgot to add that I don't plan on taking it to the track at all, just a street car and I plan on being easy on the car, no powershifting, or dumping the clutch or anything, just a few street races every once and a while. Any more opinions or suggestions would be great! Thanks!

My '89 Formula started life as an automatic, after breaking a pile of them (for no good reason, it was a 305....), I put a t-5 in it and had no more troubles (and it was a full second faster at the track and lots more fun to drive). Just my thoughts.....

Default T-56 Tranny or Auto?

I'm looking at buying a 2000 WS6 in a couple months and was wanting a 6 speed in it. But I have heard about a few bad issues involved with the T-56 Tranny. Which tranny do you guys think I should go with when I do come around to getting the car? Like I said, I really wanted to get the 6 speed, but I also don't want to have any major problems with it often like I have been hearing. I expect the usual wear and tear problems with the T-56, but some of the problems of popping out of gear, bad synchros in little miles, clutch problems, etc kind of scare me a little. But which tranny do you think I should get in mine, T-56 or auto? Sorry for this being so long, I just wanted to get all the info on this. Thanks for your help guys!!!
