Default problems with new mcleod twin disk

just got a mcleod twin disk installed with a stock master and a stock slave. You have to put it to floor to put it in gear and sometimes it is hard to put it in gear. Last night I got stuck at a intersection because it would not go into gear at all. What could be the problem?

The stock hyraulic's.
At the very least you need an adjustable master IMO.
Most say to run the McLeod master, but I guess some have gotten awayt with a stock style master made adjustable.

We did not shim it. Would that cause the problems? I was told that I didnt need a adj master, and if I shimmed it that would bring the engage on the pedal up and it would go in gear easy and I could speed shift.

To balance it correctly, you must ensure the there is proper clearances between the trany and fw. Also they want clearances between the disks. If not the clutch wont fully engage or will stay partially engaged. Which maybe happening to you.

register to the McLeod forum, its all in there.

Sounds like its not completely disengaging. Try starting it in gear and see if it moves on a level surface w/ the clutch pedal in. If it moves, then theres your problem. An adj. master or shims would fix this.

You have to shim the clutch.I have no idea why they can't set them up right before shipping.

Is this a new thing for the newer clutches that dont require the adj. master?

i have the mcleod RST twin disk, it works great. did not need adj master and I did not need to shim the slave or clutch.

maybe check the floater ring spacing/tolerance.

if itis a street twin then it should come shimmed ready to go. when you disassemble it to install it then just be sure to put everything back where it came from. i feel the adj. master is worth it's weight in gold.

as well are you certain that the system is bled properly?

please don't be offended, I am just asking the obvious things.
