Will a new T56 bolt up to an older small block?
I'm going to get an American Speed 383 'Enforcer' (525hp) for my new project car. Can I use a T56 without a bunch of modifications? Don't they bolt up to the LT1 which uses old GM small block technology... seems it would bolt onto an early '70s block... yes, no?

i think there is an adapter plate that will allow you to use it like that. i'll post it if i can remember where i saw it. Check D&D....it may be there.

You can use a LT1 T56, but you'll need a conversion flywheel (the LT1 flywheel was for a one piece rear main seal crank, the old motors have a different bolt distance on the cranks). Other than that, and making the clutch work, shouldn't be a big deal. You'll have to do some looking for a flywheel, but that's about it.
Personally, I'd much rather bolt up an LT1 T56 than an LS1 T56. The LS1 bellhousing has a different pattern for the engine bolts. They won't all bolt up.
