Question G.T.O T-56 trans

I read that a g.t.o. trans has different gear ratio's.Any truth to this and what are the advantages/disavantages of this trans?I can buy a trans mentioned at a reasonable price.Any torque ratings? Thanks in advance.

The gear ratio is a little lower and further apart than whats offered in the F body . Its probably better suited for lower horse power cars but too low of a gear for high powered cars or cars with a power adder . The biggest advantage is the syncro design which tends to not have as many issues as the F body units did . I rarely work on the GTO style T56's compared to the F body units .
