Engagement with Textrilla
So I have this clutch with 300 miles on it. It disingages at the VERY top of the pedal, so basically you put your foot on the clutch pedal, push an inch and you can shift. So if you try to drive it like a normal car if you push it all the way to the floor, shift and give it gas to slip, it doesn't engage again until the top of the pedal travel...so basically your popping the clutch all the time.
Anyone have a fix for this, my tranny guy suggested an LS7 clutch for my setup and I think I might take his advice. My usage of the car is pleasure, spirited driving and street legal drags with MT drag radials 4-5 times a year (well that is the goal so far I think I've put 800 miles on the car in the past two years, no track time)
Any ideas??? will Ticks MC fix this? It also is rough shifting at high Rev's...
Thanks!
Bobby

Sounds like its working perfect lol. Mine did that for a while until it broke in, then it starts to engage a little easier. The good thing is that it is engaging at the top of the pedal travel which means everything is working right.

Well it looks like I'll be getting an LS7 clutch, I am looking for a nice street car, between the cam and the clutch its not exactly enjoyable driving in traffic. Don't get me wrong its fairly mellow from my spec III clutch, big cam 387 setup, but I bought the midwest rear (used to have a Moser), clutch and engine so I could have similar performance without having to deal with all that crap.

I always see people saying the chatter is really bad with the textralia clutch. Maybe mine is different or something, but I have very little chatter if any at all and it mostly depends on the driving style. Maybe I should video myself driving it just to show that its not that bad? Maybe you guys got bad clutches?

I have absolutely no chatter, pedal effort is perfect, its just the 1 inch "true" travel that I don't care for...if it gets better as it breaks in I can try it out for awhile longer. I might try the adjustable MC as well and see if moving the pedal closer to the floor helps. Just hard to spend another 300 bucks when I just bought a new GM MC 300 miles ago...

Okay, are we talking about the twin disk? You're gonna get some chatter no matter what if that's the case.
My Exo Skel chatters between 1k and 2k rpm a bit.
Pedal engagement starts happening a little higher than half the pedal's travel back up.
I always slip it hard in first, but I engage it slowly sometimes in the higher gears just fine.

remember, rear end gears will/can effect the amount of chatter you may experience. i have less than 100 miles on mine and i feel like a noob driving stick at a stop light. but im also stock rear. i still have to spin it to 6000 to see if the clutch is dragging at all but i need a full tune first.
since he clutch and penzoil fluid though my t56 feels like a whole new animal. it was real notchy stoch and took some effort to get it into the gears but now its much, much easier. i go for a full dyno street tune the 15th and cant wait to lay into it.
