I would recommend buying an AD244 off of a Chevy full-size pickup (KG3 option RPO code). Much higher specs, and is a direct factory replacement - 140amps peak, 100amps idle. I did that on my Firebird, and couldn't be happier.
Too bad, it will not fit, the bolt spacing is 0.600" too narrow. The only other alternator with the same bolt spacing is some of the newer F bodies, but I don't know if you can get them to work.

It will not fit in the corvette bracket. The two bolt holes are 0.600" further apart, then on the truck mounts. I know this for a fact, since I'm having a DR44G housing modified to fit on my Corvette mount.
