Default guy takes wallet but leaves $300 oakleys in car

I woke up this morning and went to my car. We have been parking in the drive way because my family is putting in hard wood floors so the garage is taken by kitchen crap and the dragster.

I left my windows cracked about 1" on both sides and locked the doors. I live in orland park and the cheapest house in my neighborhood is $500,000 so i didn't really think anything of it.

But anyways I got to my car and saw a pouch sitting on my drivers seat. I opened it and saw a nice pair of oakley sun glasses and $4.50 in change.

Soon after i saw a few things were missing.
-wallet with no money, active credit cards, or anything vauable.
-My last two ADHD pills......today is going to be a long 11hr day at work

They left
-Brand new $400 gps
-Valentine 1 radar detector
-OBD2 scanner
-$200 helmet
-check book
-$500 in baseball equipment.

I think i got more from this then they took.

Trying to understand this..

They stole your empty wallet with nothing in it, and 5 bucks worth of pills, and left you THEIR sunglasses? Or, they left your 300 dollar sunglasses alone?

they left THEIR glasses there.

I'm guessing they saw my s.s card in my wallet and decided thats all they wanted. Already filed a police report and put a fraud alert on my name/credit

LOL. I'd trade my empty wallet for some nice Oakleys, I think my wallet is 10 years old...

Sucks that people messed with your stuff though.

My best guess would be that they got in, something spooked them, they snagged the wallet and took off, losing their change and glasses in the process.

I think you should put a post on Craiglist, saying you found these nice sun glasses and would like to return them to their rightful owner. It would be hilarious if the guy contacted you. Sounds stupid enough to.

On second thought, that's not a good idea. You'd have everybody and their mother claiming the glasses were theirs.

I guarantee to that guy wasn't carrying around his own sunglasses while he went around looking for unlocked cars to loot. He got them out of someone else's car and forgot them when he took off

Id pay $200 for a pair just because I am tired of going threw cheap-o's..... I left a set in my locker in highschool back in the day and they vanished pretty quick hahaha.

Once I left my first car unlocked by mistake and someone stole a few CD's and other junk but did not lift up the shirt covering the stereo.... if they would have they would have found a newer CD player/stereo with no install kit....... this was a third gen so alls they would have had to do it pick it up and pull the antenna out and disconnect the wiring bundle haha.

I worked in downtown long enough to know to not leave anything of value in your car and if you have to to keep it hidden..... that stereo went into my old Cavalier and that car went to my brother..... he would take the face off and hide it but someone broke into the car during the dar at a Home Depot parking lot at ripped it out and found the face...

All the cars that I have seen broken into had stuff laying out in plain view....... cell phones, MP3 players, ect ect...... 99% of the time if someone can't see something walking by they will keep on walking...... if they see something they will come back...

One car that got broken into at the last place I worked had a few items stolen out of it and I found them at the bottom of the stair case...... looked like they had fallen out of the persons bag...
