License Question (Illinois)
Ok, so I turned 21 yesterday. I went to Bdubs, bought a drink, no problem. Went to dinner with my family at Cheeseburger in Paradise. I bought 2 drinks there. Some of my sisters friends show up and they wanna do a shot with me at the bar. I go to the bar, and he asks for my ID. I give him my license and he said he can't serve me because its not valid. I have the old style state license. My license doesn't expire until 11-5-09, so how the hell is it not valid? He told me because it still has the red bars on top he can't serve me, it has to be the blue bars. I was like dude, I already had 2 drinks here, how is it not valid. He's like let me go ask my manager. He comes back and said he still can't serve me and then he wanted the servers name that served me. I didn't wanna get the girl in trouble, so I didn't tell him. This doesn't make sense to me. All my friends went out with the same license, no problem, waited til their renewal date and then got it done. That would be retarded if I can't drink because of the red bars. The damn thing is valid for 3 more months. Is it a state law or not? How are u supposed to drink on ur 21st bday if u still have that license? No one wants to go to the DMV on their birthday.

I'm surprised they served you at bdubs. They were ****** about it to me when I turned 21 too. Now everyone at your group has to be 21 for them to serve you there so I don't even bother if I'm with someone that isn't 21 (which isn't often). But anyways just don't waste your time and get it renewed. It's not even worth arguing about. I don't know if it's the law that they can't take them now but it is what it is. I had hard times when my license was like that so I just said **** it.

.
Maybe it's me, but my last 8-9 licenses always expire on my birthday.
Is it just for old people or something new??
He might of thought it was fake because it didn't expire on your birthday??

It all comes down to city laws. I am a manager at a buffalo wild wings and we will take it at mine for two weeks after you turn 21. Then if you do not change it after two weeks we will stop takeing it. Most times they are not being asses they are protecting there jobs and liquor licenses.

That is completely stupid, 21 IS 21. What color means nothing??
I will not be saying my age when mine expires!! I feel old enough already.
Just a tip, when you go in, get the extra ID, it's worth the few extra dollars.
