Borowski Race enterprise?

I used them once to get some heads ported and polished and they charged twice the amount that I was quoted. These heads were new with 200 miles on them and they leaked near the headgasket when I got them back.

I bought this engine from another guy that had it built and dynoed a few weeks before I bought it. He got layed off and needed the money so he decided to sell the fresh engine.
It dynoed great but the head gasket was shot after 15 miles. I have this bad feeling that they did some crappy machining. I'm hoping for the best though.
Had I been shopping for a new custom engine they would have been high on my list.

My name's Ken McCaul and I'm the new owner of Borowski Race Enterprises. Unfortunately, I can't disagree with much of what has been said. I bought the business in January knowing what the issues were and invested more than 2x the purchase price of the business into new equipment and inventory control systems.
We have the region's only Rottler F68A engine machining center. Every engine is digitally probed for its deck and bore dimensions prior to machining. Pic:http://www.facebook.com/pages/Borows...d=392726269685
The CNC is perfect for Darton Sleeves. It decks, bores cylinders, lifter bores, cam bores, main bores and can shave up to 28lbs from a Dart Big M.
I've installed an automated inventory control system that stores and retrieves customer projects from the racking system (i.e. no more losing people's parts. Pic: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Borows...d=226714839685
We threw out the crank balancer (made in 1951) have a new computerized version capable of measuring imbalance into hundredths of a gram.
New Sunnen Powerstroke rod hone - no more egg shaped rods.
The list goes on, but the point is that it's not the same shop. Unlike the former owner, I'm here 60-70 hrs a week. We have upgraded the personel and are always looking for new talent. Besides unbeatable precision, the CNC gives us an amazing turnaround time. We received a big block chevy last Tuesday and returned it decked, bored, honed, and alignhoned on Friday. I machined three big block Ford's in an afternoon the week before.
Let me know if there's something I can do to help.

I hope your new buisness works out for you.
I'll tell you this though, the previous owners built one hell of a crappy engine and I ended up with. I've basically rebuilt the top half of this engine trying to fix the mistakes they've made.
It sounds like you are on the right path though. Good luck.
Do you have all the former records? I'm looking for some extra info on what I have now. I can give you a call at the shop if you still have the records.
Thank you,
~Jim~

I KNOW...I KNOW!! Bringing this thread back from the dead. Well anyway, that's what the "search" function is for. LOL!! I recently was Googling and came across this builder and called them and they sounded and talked a good game. Even left my number and Ken, the owner, called me back in a timely manner. He answered all of my questions and seemed knowledgeable. I understand this thread was 4 years ago when the old owner died and the shop was sending crappy engines out of the shop. My question is now, after this thread and 4 years later, is the new shop doing better and has anyone had any dealings with the new owner as of recent? Are quality engines and excellent work being performed by them and Ken, the new owner? Or, is it the same ol rhetoric every shop tells when new ownership happens?

my girlfriends uncle just had his original hemi over there for a complete overhaul. He was happy with them and keeps telling me to use them for my build every time he sees me.
