Tuning an LS3 in Chicago
Guys, I need to get my modded NA LS3 tuned and I live in Chicago. The two places I've been told about are Speed Inc. in Schaumburg and Modern Muscle in Oswego. Can anybody give me a good recommendation on where to go get the car tuned?
Modern Muscle said the car would need to sit overnight because they need the engine to be cold. Speed Inc said the exact opposite, and that they tune the car while the engine is at operating temps. Does anyone have any insight to this as well??? I hate when I get different answers to the same question and I def don't wanna spend $500 on a shitty tune just to find out that the car runs the same as it does now. Any experiences one way or another? Thanks in advance guys!!

I've been dealing with the guy's at Speed Inc for many years now and have NEVER had a bad experience with them. (They did two cam installs for me a few years back.)
To the best of my knowledge the car has to be running for the tune. I believe that's how they adjust in gear idle speed ect......
I'm not familiar with the other shop so can't really say anything about them.

I've had nothing but good tunes from Straightline since 2007? Those guys make you feel at ease and no question is too dumb. Nick will answer any question you might have no matter what your budget is!

I have had tunes at both Speed Inc. and Straightline both with great results so I recommend both lol. As far as having the car sit overnight, I believe that is so that they can get a good startup/idle tune for when the weather is cold. Once the car is at operating temperature, you can only use your educated guess (or experience we'll call it) to get it running properly. Some shops might have so much experience that they just know. I've had to bring my car back to get a touch up on this as when winter came, the car was very cold blooded. Once it was touched up, ran much nicer when cold

Do not go to modern muscle what ever you do. Horrible experience with tuning, fabrication, damaged parts, you name it. Go to speed inc, Jim is there tuner as he is one of the best

Straightline is a great shop along with speed inc. give them both a call and you'll know you are dealing with the two premier ls tuners in the midwest. Me personally, I'm a fan of straightlines tuner, but speed inc has helped me out with parts and building my bottom end.
