Yeah I got that impression too. I might have to recorrect for a different Barometer. 29.93 vs 29.92.

Another autocross gone by with not one new f-body this year.

I heard the only LS1 that showed up snagged second fastest time of day and only missed fastest time by 0.027 seconds.

Okay, now if you ever wanted to try an autocross, this is the event to do it. It's our biggest lot, one of the most grippy, and easily accessible. Each run at this location usually lasts close to 80 seconds.

When: Saturday July 30th and July 31st
Time: 9:00-10:30 Registration, 10:45 Driver Mtg, 11:00 Racing
Where: John Deere Davenport Works. On US 61, take the first exit north of I-80 to the east (Mt Joy Road/210th Street) then take the first right (should see an SCCA sign there.)
Cost: $10 to first-timers (entry fee covers 1 day)
Eqpt: M-90/SA90 or newer helmet. Loaners available.


For $10, it's got to be worth a try. I'll offer up my personal assurance that the only regret you'll have from going is not going sooner.

If you have any questions regarding the way the event runs, or what to do when you show up, feel free to post up or pm.

Here's your typical day:

9:00-10:30: Go to the registration E-Z Up, sign a waiver, get a wristband and pay your fee. The earlier you show, the more time you have for the next steps. The later you show, the longer the line for tech inspection.
Next Empty the loose items from your car: books, CD's, pens, bottles and front floormats. If you're changing tires, now is the time.
Next Get in line to have your car tech'd. Bring the sheet you got at registration with you. Tech checks for loose wheels, a firm brake pedal, secure battery, seat belts and makes sure there's nothing loose in the car. They'll also tech your helmet if you're using your own.
Next As important as the rest, walk the course at least 3 times. You don't get practice runs per se. You get 5 or 6 runs depending on time constraints, and the best one counts. The people who get most frustrated are those who don't walk the course enough, or don't concentrate when walking and then proceed to get lost on the course.
10:45 Mandatory driver's mtg. Rules are gone over plus any additional announcements.
11:00 First car on the course!
4:00-5:00 If time allows, $3 fun runs are held. You can get extra runs, or allow firnds to try it out.
5:00 Course pick-up followed by awards.

The damn thing keeps not wanting to go into gear at high RPMs. Like the other night when we were screwin around the second time it just would not go into 3rd. It's really starting to aggrevate me!!!

The second time was the good time, we hit gas at same time. I was going from third probly would of help starting in second, but figured all the torque would pull me up fast enough in third.

Word on the street is mystic is talkin smack Heard the warbird was destroyed I will check but I think my dragstrip is open 24 7 let me know and I will change tires and we will let them eat.

Oh ok. I was curious because i was gonna say I told Ben and those guys that it was VERY close. I said that you were pretty much at my bumper (i couldn't tell cause i wasn't taking my eyes off the road at 120+ but my girlfriend said you were a little behind my bumper when i shut down in 4th) I said about a car to a car and a half at most. I even went on to say that i couldn't believe how dialed in your car is. With my mods i should have been able to walk you pretty well but you just hung right there. I was unhappy!!! But still very impressed! Hense why the 150 shot and 114 race fuel is going in tomorrow. I don't know if i am going to race the Procharged MystiChrome for money but i am going to race him none the less!!

By the way Jim, you wouldn't happen to have a way to test for spark blowout do you??? I know one way to do it but i really don't feel like going to the dyno right now (well only because i have no money) I thought i was out of nitrous that night but when i got the bottle filled up i had about 5 or 6 pounds left. The only thing i could think of besides the nitrous cutting out (which it obviously couldn't have been) is spark blowout. Other 03/04's running the same mods as me experience spark blowout only spraying a 75 shot. I was fine with the 50 shot no cut out ever!! But with the 100 i am starting to think it's time for a boost-a-spark!! I am going to change the fuel filter and change out the plugs to TR-6s at a .32 gap and see how that works (got some Denso iridiums right now and i've heard boosted cars have nothing but problems with them, and now i've added spray into the mix!)
But yeah Jim we will have to run again with me on the 100 shot. This time lets find a little straighter road though!! You are right it's going to be an awesome race!! Your car flat out moves for the little mods you got. What kind of times have you put down at the track??
