Default Wisconsin residents: Feelings on the propsed PPA bill?

The personal protection act, in other words the ability to legally carry a concealed weapon. I hear the legislative vote is on Tuesday.

How many are looking forward to the result?

It passed before and Doyle vetoed and threatened to stop party funding of election campagns to any Democrats who voted to override his veto. I believe it had passed with enough votes to have overrode a veto but after that threat the actual veto override vote did not get the support the initial vote had.

Can't wait until November so I can vote for someone other than Doyle. I wouldn't mind if it goes through but don't think I'll be packing anyway if it does go through. Maybe.

I hope it passes for you guys. I wish we could get it in Illinois too. I strongly believer that we woould have less violence if everyone could "Legally" carry a weapon.

You would. Everytime a state passes right to carry laws violent crime rates decline in a statistically significant fashion. Not only that, but the places that benefit the most are large cities, IF those cities do not have their own laws against it. In Illinois even a statewide right to carry wouldn't let anybody in Shitcago carry. Well, except for political officials and the swarms of armed bodyguards Daley constantly surrounds himself with.

You might want to check out "More Guns, Less Crime" by John R. Lott. The more recent followup to it is "The Bias Against Guns". It will amaze you to read the actual truth and see why exactly it is that the anti gun "arguments" are bullcrap. Things like when they say "children" that refers to anybody under the age of 20, an aquaintence shooting includes rival gang members (who would also be children if they were teenagers), no permit holder has EVER shot a police officer, there are more than two million defensive gun uses every year, etc etc.

I didnt think local laws could superceed state or federal laws? I know here in Mi. we have "shall issue" as the law and I dont know of one local law that restricts it. I know we have laws that restrict where it can be carried but thats it.

I also dont understand why there are restrictions on where except where alcohol is consumed.

It's up to your @sshole governor now. He can veto it, which heprobably will, but it will probably be over riden. We will find out before too long.
