Yeah, I've been to some pretty scary places. For instance, the Tompkinsville dragstrip somewhere down in Kentucky (I believe outside of the Louisville area). You had to drive through a creek in order to get to the track. The track actually went across two pieces of land, with the strip being on one side and most of the shutdown area on the other lot. There was a barn towards the end of the strip (on the other lot I believe), and it eventually got burnt down by some rowdy folks. After that, the owner of that lot (where the shutdown area was) said no more. It obviously closed up after that.
