Default Street Wars at 131 dragway 7/15/06

Anyone heading up to the street car night at 131 dragway tomorrow? If I can find a helmet, I plan on going. This will be the first time for having my car on the track. Curious what it can do. More interested in the mph than the e.t. as I have gone from stock intake and TB to a fast 90/90 setup since dynoing. My APE motor is reaching 10,000 miles now so I am sure it is fully broken in.

So who's going?

Just got back from there. Pretty good turnout. Made it to the final 4 in the Sportsman and got knocked out by the 383 yellow Fury? I knocked out a few F bodies running much faster traps than me (thanks to some mickey thompson drag radials and a 3500rpm fuddle)

I had the black WS6.

What was your car number? You probably took me out. I was 5871...I made it through the 3rd round in sportsman. This was my first time ever running at the track with this car. I could not get my car off the line for ****. I was running consistent 2.2 60' times with my goodyear GSD3's at 36 psi and a completely stock suspension (75,000 miles old). I was running right at 118 mph all night.

I thought there was a pretty good turnout considering the heat. I know I definately got my $15 worth of racing in. My goal was basically to have the car drive home without a tow truck...I was succesful.

Car number was 030

of the final 4 in the sportsman class 3 of us were from the same club besides the Fury. the other 2 guys were the 347 black mustang (my cousin) and the 383 camaro convertible (friend) which was supposed to let the mustang win because he was the only chance to beat the Fury. Fury was running 12.1-12.2 everytime i saw him. My cousins mustang has run 11.8 but was running more like 12.0-12.2 compared to my 12.4-12.6 and the camaros 12.5-13.0.

instead of my friend letting the mustang win he edged my cousin out at the end when he was slightly sand bagging because he was supposed to win. there had to of been close to 30ish cars in sportsman, 15 dollars each means $450 give or take would have gone to the winner. so pretty much to say my cousin is pissed.

Yeah I figured that was you that took me out in the 3rd round when I read your sig. Your nittos slaughtered me and my poor goodyears.....that and a just suck plain and simple. I started to chase you down on the far end but no luck for me Oh well I had a blast for my first time ever racing. You guys that were parked together there had some nice clean cars compared to my beater. I did not get much of a chance to get around and meet people, maybe I will next time.

I ran my 16" camaro wheels with 255/50/16 mickey thompson DR's for launching consistancy. Nittos can be good but one pass will be a 1.80 and the next will be a 2.1. With the mickeys its consistant 1.78-1.82.

We all have been to most of the Midnight Madness type events like this at us131 and will be going to more. But i believe the next one is sport compact night and i dont know if we will go to that.

Ive really only been to us131. You are right about it being hot, but about 10pm or so it go fairly cool, i went from running 12.7@106 during the day to 12.4@110 at night.

I liked how the Sportsman was all motor cars 402ci or less. biggest motors running there were 383ci from what i saw. That Fury in the final 4 got me by about 2 cars by the end. and he almost red lighted with a .5031 to my .5230

131 is the only one I have been to. This was the first time I had raced my car at the track. I am willing to try out other venues. Stanton is quite a drive for me though. You got any info on the event?

Hopefully next year I can get my car more geared up for some of the twist N turn style tracks. My stock shocks, sway bars, and springs are not exactly up for some road courses.

Here ya go http://www.migmevent.com/m11/ it's a damn good time!! There is just something bad *** about looking in your mirror in the staging lanes and seeing a sea of f-bodies and other great GM muscle.

Correction about the cubic inches, biggest was 385ci which is what Rich in the black camaro convertible has. The local machine shop left metal in his engine and it scratched the hell out of the cylinder walls so they had to bore it out more from a 383ci making it a 385ci now.
