Hey all you Iowa guys! I am probably going to move back to Cedar Rapids in a few weeks(been in Dallas for almost 5 years,no place like home tho) and I was wondering what the car scene was like back in the Hawkeye state. I will be looking for an Iroc or a clean 99-00 SS. Any dragstrips around, I have heard of Eddyville,but don't know where it is,or any road course action would be sweet. My baby(see sig) got totaled in march,so i'm looking for a project car to bring back with me. Just wondering what the scene was like,and if you guys got any clubs goin on. Also,any good Ls1 shops in the area,mainly for tuning,I do everything else myself. Thanks guys

 

There are a couple of 1/4 mile tracks close to C.R. Tri State & CFR. From what I know C.R. has a decent car scene.

thanks man,I'm 28 now,and like my thread says,been away for almost 5 years,and livin in Dallas is awesome for car guys,just wonderin how Iowa(Cear Rapids/Iowa City) is doin,if its growing,etc. Wouldn't mind meeting some guys for a club,or to race,or just drink beer and work on our cars.

From what I hear there is somewhat of car scene in Cedar Rapids, a few buddies of mine go there sometimes from school. As far tracks or anything like that, I have no idea because my car stays home while I am in Iowa City.

 

Theres cedar falls dragway. I will hopefully purchase a ws6 sometime soon. Curious...Why are you coming back to Iowa? all thats good here is the like 3 months of snowmobiling.

 

I take it there aren't too many Iowa guys on here? I live in Perry which is about 25 mins west of Des Moines. Used to live in Urbandale when I was younger.
Jason I think I have seen you car around before. How old are you by the way? Haha.

We go drag racing at both Cedar Falls Raceway(1/4 mile) and Eddyvile(1/8 mile) The new Iowa Speedway in Newton is a NHRA track(1/8 Mile) that should start racing this fall. Our club also holds one of the biggest "All Camaro Car Shows " in the upper midwest in July every year...HAWKEYE CAMARO-FEST.

Cedar Falls & Tri State are both easy drives from CR.

No, there are not alot of Iowa guys that post on here regularly.

 

We need to get a group together and head to the track. I have been dying to get back there since I went for the first time last summer.

 

A bunch of us are going to CFR for Friday night TnT on 9/8. Gates open at 6...

Little breakdown of what I've seen.

4 girls in a red SS vert on highway 13 - it's always parked at a gas station in Central City.
A white SS, at the same gas station, parked next to the other one when it's there - it was first there at least two years ago.
A white 01 base model TA, at Kirkwood (the guy is kinda cool). (For sale - 13k)
A mint red SS at Kirkwood.
A pewter base model TA on first ave, by Best Buy.
A purple WS6 on 380, near Kirkwood.
A black SS on 380, near Kirkwood.

This is over at least a year of looking for these cars. There really aren't a lot of them around here.


Damn, I didn't even know most of these people in thread were on here. Somebody give me a ride in a fast car, damn.
