Getting plates/or renewal when have been expired for a few years
In short the Formy has had expired plates for a few years.
I'm thinking that I should get new plates, or they might try to get me to pay for the years I did not renew if I try to keep the old plates? Anyone have experience?

From what I recall, it'll be more costly to try and renew/reinstate your old plates once it's been a few years. Then again, the last time I looked into this was quite a while ago. Sec of State has changed since then, so maybe things are different now.

I just put a corporation truck back on the road over the summer, they made me pay the 2 years I had it parked, and this year. It was at the Joliet office.

I just went thru this a few months back.
I had to re-register a car that was expired for 18+ months.
I just went right to the Secretary of state office.
I expected to have to pay for 2 years registration.
They said no & just issed new plates right there
So it ended up just costing $78.

Plates on my Formula expired Feb 04, In May '05 I went to my local Currency Exchange and re-registered the car. They issued new plates for $78. I tried to put my old personalized plates back on it, but with personalized/vanity plates you can't get those back without reapplying for them.
I got the regular plates and applied for new personalized plates.

PSJ, let me know about the pump gas drags. I would be interested in doing that. As far as the plates go, just renew them $78.00 no big deal. Make sure you get a hold of me in the spring for some cruising!
