Vacation time......LOL, what's that like?

I heard about some kind of show at the GM tech center in MI this summer. Not sure if it's an annual thing or not. If anyone has more details, post 'em up!

From Scott.

Good afternoon, Camaro Comrades, Firebird Friends, and Classic Chevy lovers............

As announced earlier, General Motors, Classic Chevy International, and World Wide Camaro will be hosting a 40th Anniversary Celebration of the Camaro/Firebird; and a 50th Anniversary Celebration of the 1957 Chevy at the General Motors Technical Center in Warren, Michigan on August 9-11, 2007.

This is an event you do NOT want to miss.

As promised, here are some hotels we suggest you consider: (we hope to get Camaro and Firebird people staying close together so we can 'hang out' in the parking lots at night........)

1. Comfort Inn -- 7001 Convention Blvd -- Warren, MI (about a mile north of Tech Center) 586-268-9020 -- booking code is "SSOA" (not just reserved for SSOA members -- we simply needed to come up with a memorable 4-character code!) Special rate for that code is $59 a night

2. Hampton Inn -- 7447 Convention Blvd -- Warren, MI 586-977-7270 -- booking code is "CSSO" -- Special Rate for that code is $83 a night

3. Holiday Inn Hotel and Suites -- 30000 Van Dyke Ave, Warren, MI 586-573-7600 -- (directly across the street from GM Tech Center) Rate is $79 a night -- identify yourself as part of the Chevy/Camaro 40th Anniversary celebration at the Tech Center.

4. Residence Inn -- 30120 Civic Center Blvd, Warren -- 586-558-8050 -- (directly across the street from GM Tech Center)

5. Marriott Courtyard Detroit/Warren -- 30190 Van Dyke Ave -- Warren, MI (directly across the street from GM Tech Center)

6. Fairfield Inn -- Warren -- 7454 Convention Center Drive -- Warren -- (about a mile north of the Tech Center) 586-939-1700

Both Comfort Inn and Hampton Inn are holding 40 rooms each for Camaro/Firebird Enthusiasts.

I'd STRONGLY suggest you book early into the rooms (like right now!) -- as we anticipate several hundred 55-57 Chevy Enthusiasts -- about 450 Corvette Enthusiasts -- and I'm HOPING 1,000 Camaro/Firebird Enthusiasts.

OF NOTE: The Woodward Dream Cruise takes place the following Saturday. You may want to extend your trip for at least a few days into the week of August 14. While the actual 'Dream Cruise' is on Saturday, August 19, Woodward Avenue is 'bumper to bumper' with classic cars starting on Tuesday late afternoon-- by Wednesday night, it's jammed.

---a great time to get together with fellow Camaro/Firebird enthusiasts-- take in the sites of the GM Tech Center -- and get a tour of the GM Heritage Center........this is a trip you do NOT want to miss!

The Morris show in the fall is pretty big and the UPS show is big. Super Chevy Shows are always big as well.

The GM Tech Center event in August replaces the annual Bowling Green event in 2007.
Should be an awesome time, I'm looking forward to it!
Bowling Green event resumes in 2008.

Going to that one, TA Nats and ???

What about more local shows, NW burbs. Along with the train station, Rolling Meadows on Fri nights, Photo's if there's anything left there this year.

Where else is everyone going on Sat nights this Summer?

Post up ideas and lets really get some big shows going this year, like Photo's used to be back in '01-02!!!!

I believe Cabella's only had a handful of cars at their show last year.

And thanks for the info on the Cabellas show. This is what I was concerned about...didn't want to waste my time driving to a show thats poor.

I've not gone to it myself, but from what others told me the first year had a around 100 cars in attendance, and last year was just a handful. The weather was terribly hot that weekend too, so that probably didn't help matters any. I remember sitting at home thinking of my friends that were up there in Michigan at the show.

Yep, I'll be at the T/A Nats next Summer. That's what I do....I just take Friday off and drive over. It's a 2 hour drive for me.

I've not been to the Cabellas show, but I've gone to the T/A Nats for several years now. We indeed met at the T/A Nats last Summer.
