Default Speeding ticket, need some help/advice

Got pulled over today on the highway. The cop didn't get a good clock on me (atleast told me he didnt), and wrote me a ticket for 100+. Its a class A misdemeanor if ur going 40 or more over the limit. I'm gonna need an attorney and any help or advice with dealing with this or gettin the charge lessened let me know, anything is appreciated.

He's just estimating a speed, probably wouldn't be too hard to get that reduced by a lawyer, as stated above.

Thats what I was thinking, a family friend is a traffic lawyer so I am going to talk to him tomorrow and see what I can do. Just needed to vent a little bit and try to find some support.

I had one recently like that aswell he clocked me doing 104 in a 55. He was a good cop and gave me a break and wrote it as 94 so I was just shy of 40 over. I had to pay $400 and got 1-yr supervision. thats why my cars been parked for a month and a half now . It wasnt fun but I paid for my dumb mistake.

What does the ticket say as far as how fast you were going? If it doesn't say a specific speed, the lawyer should be able to plea it down for you. I got 5 moving violations in one year, (3 at once) and my lawyer was able to get it to where I still have my license.

Its the cops word against yours. Who do you think the judge is going to believe? He could of told you anything when he pulled you over but it will be a totally different story when you're in court. Your lawyer will take care of it all. I got 2 violations once and thats a mandatory court appearence. Just show up and shut up and let your lawyer take care of it.

Talked to a lawyer today, looks like its going to be $250 for him, said he can probably get me on court supervision, possible driver improvement class and fine of around $250. On the ticket there isnt a specific speed, just "100+" which i really cant see helping my cause.

I'm hoping my attorney will be able to work down the severity of what i will have to pay/endure. It is my first offense so hopefully that helps, but the cop was not in a good mood, i stayed respectful as he wrote me a ticket for my speeding, a ticket for not having my updated insurance card (old one expired 12/31/06), a warning for improper lane usage "going from 1 to 3", and to top it all off he walked around my car and wrote me a warning for no front plate, this was while he was telling me he used to have a camaro squad car and knew the performance, asked me what would happen if i got a blowout at that speed, and told me to get rid of the car because it would ONLY get me in trouble. Hope no one else has to run into this guy.

LOL. That cop is funny. Just got me to thinking about how much more I tend to speed driving my Monte or Bonneville because I know that cops will always be watching a Camaro closer.

I'll cruise at 65-70mph in the Camaro on the expressway, but I don't really think twice about doing 95+ for open streches in my Bonneville.... hell I bet that car has seen 110mph more times than my Camaro.

Money hungry ******.

Hell I got two tickets written to me by a off duty officer. He said I came around the corner on two wheels!!!!!!! LMAO. He got pissed when I actually did start to laugh. Got the tickets for not stopping at a stop sign and illegal squealing of tires. Too bad I didn't even do it. He said it was a white t/a. Well at the time I had a 30th t/a, with the blue rims and stripes, mostly white but he never mentioned the blue rims that stand out like a sore *** thumb. So he was full of ****. I'll remember that *******!

btw get a lawyer. Most of the time they know the prosecutors. So they can get you off with not much harm done. I got off with $150 lawyer fee, and 6 months supervision for the going through the stop sign and the illegal squeeling of tires got thrown out. In and out of the court house in 15 minutes.

hell at least you didnt get arrested, hawaii just passed a law stating that 30+ on any speed limit is automatic three days in jail. at least they left it to the officers discretion on whether you go or not.
