Default No emissions for 95 and older?

I'm not sure if it's been posted here yet, but are they not doing emission testing on 1995 and older vehicles any more?

http://www.illinois.gov/PressRelease...29&RecNum=5675
-just seeing if anyone else has heard this yet.

I'm surprised this news isn't generating more interest. Seems like a huge change. I wonder if any other states/areas that do testing have done this besides IL?

Bought time IL. did something right since IL. emissions testing is a joke. My bro had to take his 72 monte carlo in with hooker headers and purple horny mufflers bolted up to a 350 when he had it.

He had to get race car/show car insurance also.

It came down to money. The federal highway fund's money the state was getting for emissions testing was less than it cost to maintain the dyno's & mass gas spectrogram testing equiptment.
Once the 95 & down registrations went below 30% of the total light duty vehicle fleet here they axed it.
It's all about the $$ as usuall.

This is awesome. When I'm done with my mild mods on the TA I will be looking for at pre 1996 model sports car.

I love it, when I put the ls1 in my 95 I installed headers ory and borla 3 days prior to getting my emission notice. I was pissed, but went and tried to pass, no luck, so I put the stock **** back on just to pass. Now I will never have to do that again.

I wonder what happens if you buy '95 or older car. Do you have to get tested once then your O.K.

After reading the article, it seems to me that so long as the car was in compliance as of 2/1/07, there will be no further testing. I would assume that a change in regestration would have no impact on that.....
