Default Some Advice

Hey guys, im having a problem with my serpentine belt. It keeps coming off for some reason. I replaced the belt with a new one because i thought maybe the old belt got stretched out. So i swapped them and its still doing it. It seems like it does it when i go WOT in the car. Im thinking it might be my tensioner or possibly even the crank pulley, if anyone has advice PLEASE help me out, im desperate. Thanks Alot.

If there is no bad vibration or anything I would say its the tensioner.

I know Katech makes an adjustable tensioner for exactly this reason, but you might want to try just replacing the stock one first since the Katech one is pretty expensive I think.

hey jake! couple things to look at. put the belt on and start it up look at all the pulles and make sure tey all look parallel to each other. now when the car is NOT running try pushing on the tensioner and see if it feels weak it shouldnt be very easy to push with your hands

I have had to replace the tensioners before on cars with fast ramping engines... I would try that first. Have you ever removed your power steering pulley cuz I have not re-installed one far enough and it caused the belt to pop off. I actually had to put the pulley past the end of the shaft... Good luck

no i have never pulled the power steering pulley off. So does anyone have a stock tensioner they do not need? thanks

i've heard you can swap out the tensioner pulley with one from a pontiac grand prix gtp, the supercharged one, or the buick with the same motor. the pulley has taller sidewalls that prevent the belt from being thrown.

im gonna go with what everyone else is saying about the tenisoner. but just to make sure, put the belt back on and see if all the pulleys line up. ive had the crank bolt back out and cause the crank pulley to slide out, but then that threw the AC belt too. i doubt you have that problem, but just to be safe make sure everything is in line.
