I dunno, their site says they are closed until further notice.

I hope they get this **** straightened out, 41 was the only track I went to. If it closes I'll have to go to 66, and my car will not pass tech there. Not to mention its a longer drive. I'm sure 66 is a nicer facility, I just don't feel like doing all the little **** it would take to make my car pass tech.

Straight from the site (http://www.us41dragway.com/),

TO ALL OF THE PATRONS AND GUESTS OF US 41 DRAGWAY

I am sorry for any inconvenience to all of you who had plans to spend any part of your weekend enjoying yourself at the drag strip. Papa Norm was my husband, and as most of you know he has passed away leaving me, his widow Jane Nevinger, as soul owner of US 41. With the help of my son, Derek, as asked by his dad, Papa Norm, the track was able to be kept open. Denny Rich was then hired as the track manager. It is my sincere wish that you all have enjoyed what the track has to offer you, and it is my wish that this could continue. Unfortunately, the track has been closed due to malicious imposition of Norman Nevinger the Third, which my husband, Norman Nevinger Jr. AKA Pappa Norm, would have fought to his last breath. There are also serious safety issues for my track manager was threatened with being physically attacked, and the safety of my employee's and patrons and guests are of the utmost importance to me.

There are numerous rumors flying about, and this letter is to clarify the truth. The track, as stated above, is owned by Jane Nevinger the widow of Norman Nevinger Jr.. This was and is the wish of Papa, and I have set out to fulfill my husbands wishes to the best of my ability. Those of you who knew Papa well know this is true. NOTHING that is transpiring at the track,at this time, has anything to do with me the legal owner.

Thanks to all of the folks who have come to the track for you have helped to make Papa Norm's hard work worth every one of the strenuous and labor intensive hours he spent there.
His goal was to make a place for your enjoyment and entertainment. I ask you to bear with me at this time that the track is being robbed and pillaged.

Sincerely,

Jane Nevinger Widow of Papa Norm

I've read through all of this, streetcarchaos.com, and dragnews.com...

Is this place open or closed, and if its open is it worth my time to go there?

I am looking for a yes/no answer. No BS.

check their web site or call the track.I just came home from a weeks vacation to see this.I think Norm JR. could not get his supposed new drag strip built, ran into money problems or support in general, and went off in a rage against his family! Only a guess, but i would say its probably pretty close to what happened.

Yea, I was one of their EMT's...they have ALWAYS had an EMT or Paramedic on duty with enough medical supplies to stock 2-3 ambulances....those are the people in the ET shack....

What does the cornfield have to do with anything? 90% of wrecks go into the wall

And what do you do transport the person in youre car And the other comment was meant as a joke,But since you brought up the wall I guess cars cant be pushed or towed from the wall to the field.

Uh...race tracks can't transport people...you have to call for a local ambulance to come and get you....

You're right, what good is having an EMT at a track with no ambulance

Duh, if you don't drive down the track in an ambulance to get to the wreck, it doesn't really count and you can't help.

It's like driving your kia to the Sox game instead of your cavalier...It just doesn't work right.
