the rod attached to the main hoop is the rear mount for the window net. the front attaches to the top bar near the a-pillar and is removeable at a heim joint bolted to the side bar near the armrest.

I read that turds and turd mounting surfaces don't take too well to tig welding. Just something to think about Sean.

Im no talking about a super clean shop

Most of the shops around here are not spit shine clean but they are not trashed and they put out some BAD cars.

I could care less if the shop is dirty or not, if the work they do on my car is KILLER and there are no scratches or stains then what do I care?

Im taking my ar to Burkhart in a few months. Why? Because of their reputation and the work they do? Have I ever seen their shop and if its clean or not? No, why? Because I don't care and my car is FFFFFFFFFAAAAAAAARRRRRRR from a beater . I know it will be near perfect when it gets back also in and out.

All of the hangars at work have some nasty floors all the time. Why? Because there is to much work to be done to be cleaning shop every night. Is there stains in the carpet of the aircraft and all? No, you are carefull and put plastic down ect ect.

Not arguing or anything, just saying that as long as the work is killer and noting is wrong with the car then it does not matter about the shop.

Ive never seen a clean shop that did shitty work. If you take pride in your shops appearance you take pride in your work.

The other two welds(A-pillar to halo joint and halo to main hoop joint) are just as bad. Some novice ****. Bust out the MIG and crank the wire speed up and you get that.

hardly a novice guys... been doing this for a long time. that is a mild steel setup that was mig welded. those pics were posted to show the fit of the cage. if it was that bad it wouldn't certify, and i have NEVER had a cage not certify or even be questionable. the customer gets what they pay for. just for your nice comments without knowing what the deal is, i'll post some pics of the tig welded stuff with no paint. i'll even take them now so they're fresh pics.

pics as promised... and btw... that cage was a s&w .134 mild kit that was purchased by the customer about a year before it was installed. i can't control the fit and finish of someone else's work. like i said... the customer gets what they pay for. what more do you want for a junk kit that was installed for 250.00. do you think my customers spending 60K plus on 200mph cars would let me do theirs if it was like that?

these pics are from a 4130 bolt-in setup in a convertible. notice you can still see the colors in the welds indicating the filler rod and heat is right on the money. sorry about the rust starting to show up, but it hasn't been removed friom the car yet to be powdercoated.

sorry about the focus here...

some novice ****... whatever bro

Heh...I've seen hillbilly stuff practically JB welded together with certification stickers.

I just don't like MIG welding at all when it comes to cages(besides the plate to floor welds).
